Sony Ericsson P990i

I agree with the earlier posters that the p990 just doesn't seem that appealling any longer - it has aged to near obsolete status even before it arrived, and I feel let down by SE (and the networks for taking so long to test).

Does anyone here know of any (non-windows) alternatives?

I read the N95 will be released Europe in Jan. 2007, so we should be getting it in Oct/Nov 2007, right after the networks have tested it.

Doesnt look like this will be happening, as its the 19th and nashua mobile still dont have and idea when stock will be arriving or even have a clue as to what the cost is.....

Can we get an update as to what is happening? Is there any word?
Some small titbit to keep us still, yet slowly losing interest, loyal SE Customers?

I have even resorted to EBAY!!!!

So hows about an update or timeline... JUST ONCE :D

This handset is becoming a painful issue and i will definitely breathe a bit easier upon its release on Mtn shores. i have e-mailed the midrand warehouse manager to push for feedback.

well paint me gold and call me oscar, i wasnt expecting people to camp::D

"We are getting stock early next week, but the enquires and backorders are so big, that we cannot satisfy the demand with the 800 units that are arriving. Customers will have to stand in line."

Isn't there perhaps a general problem with our operators in getting these phones to the masses?

Ok it's not quite end of October, beginning November yet, but 2 weeks ago I saw this handset advertised by VirginMobile and went to MTNSP to enquire. They didn't know and added me to a waiting list :rolleyes:
Then on Tuesday I called them again and I was promised they'd call back. This morning I called MTNDirect and spoke to a "Jolene" who told me her manager would be able to tell me on Monday whether they would be getting the handset. Not when they would be getting it, whether they would be getting it :confused:
That blew my mind?? So there's a chance they would NOT be getting it? I then worked myself up and posted it on hellopeter.com and then Thabo called back and said he just checked with the "procurement" guys and they said it wouldn't be anytime soon. He said I'm looking at the end of the year??
At this rate I better just give up and wait for the N95 but that could be end of 2007 anyway.

Vodacom has the P990i's in their VSP warehouse today, their are only 500 units to be allocated,

Spoke to a lady at the MTN warehouse on 011 9123000.
She said that they are reciving stock this week, and will be in the MTN dealers shops by Monday next week.

Hope I get one next monday. can't wait now.

I managed to get some prices from Vodacom
Talk 240 - R 1500
Talk 500 - R500
I was told that even Talk 1000 users would have to pay in for the phone, not sure what the fee is though.

:(
Do they really need to make it so expensive?
