Left the battery out for an hr. Put it back on charge, and after a while it tried to switch it on, and it gave me the language choice screen again... so it seems im back on. phew. had a couple of scary moments there.....

I also had a little bit of a scare but all panned out fine. But like an idiot i didn't make a back-up of my contacts. So all the recent numbers i saved were wiped off

If you select the power saving option your phone shouldn't stay on when you charge it. Or does it do this when your phone is swithced off?

Hi Bruce, I've got power save enabled, but if you switch the phone off and then start to charge it, the screen stays on.

Ok, here is some very good news!!

If you make a phone call with the new firmware installed on the P990i, you get the 'speaker' option on the left button!! I've tested it & it works 100%.

Also, if you're busy with a call & want to switch to 'speaker phone', just press 'More' and you can go on to 'speaker'...

Really starting to enjoy my P990i now.

Hey, i have another morono qeustion so bere with me! If the P990 is running symbian 9.1 then when synbian 9.2 is out can th fone upgrade to that software? is there even synbian 9.2 ??????

Snakepit - are you still able to get unbranded P990i's?

Anyone - what is the latest on being able to get unbranded P990i's from Vodacom, or being able to get them unbranded by Customer Care?

How do you navigate yr P990i?

I am interested to hear how people 'get around' their P990i primarily:
- is the phone very functional in flip closed mode? i.e. can you perform almost all the functions in FC mode? I was disappointed on the P910i at not being able to add contacts etc in FC mode.
- anyone pulled the flip off totally? And then, is it possible to navigate around on the QWERTY kweyboard, or do you have to then rely on the touchscreen quite a lot?

I'm sure the phone will run Symbian 9.3 - will most probably be made available as a firmware upgrade.

However, SE might 'reserve' 9.3 for the next P-series phone....make it a reason for people to go out and buy a new phone.

Hi BruceM,

The phone is EXTREMELY functional in FC mode - it's definitely a 'one-handed' phone. The new buttons + 'navigator' key on the flip makes it much more useful than the P910....

I haven't taken off my P990i's flip, because it's so useful, so don't know how it will work without it.

*Might even go so far as to say that you can remove the stylus... but I like to write on the screen! Sometimes I can't decide if I should use the stylus or the keyboard - both work extremely well.
