The key to the iPhone is it's OS - and in this case, it's Mac OS X. I think we can look forward to a stable phone, also Apple has more OS know-how than SonyEricsson... ;)

Well, my P990i is making me mad again! :mad:

Was talking to a friend when the phone just switched itself off - and it still had 18% battery life when I answered the call (red light didn't even start to flash yet). Didn't even give me a 'low battery' warning, like it's supposed to do. :eek:

Damn, need a new firmware upgrade soon!

*But I still love my P990i - it's a love/hate relationship at the moment. Think my phone 'sensed' that I'm flirting with the idea of an iPhone.... ;)

*grins* You never know. I've suspected for a long time that my computers react to my moods. Whenever I pull my sledgehammer closer, they start behaving properly again. But afterwards they start to taunt me again ...

I find it quite fascinating that the P990 generated enough passion to get (almost) 100 pages here. Whatever you views on it is, whether you love or hate it, people are talking about it.

Mmmm ... when I get my next phone I may also be looking towards Apple ... depending on how well the iPhone is made and how stable the software is. And what applications are available for it.
 
I agree, i think the iphone will be a very interesting choice, it will have to be an amazing phone to taunt me away from hsdpa and 3g fo another 2 years! I will also be looking at waiting for the next p series. I hope se pull something amazing out of the bag.
I think this thread also shows how dedicated we are to them and the p series, lets hope the next firmware update is amazing(and the next p series!);)

Maybe the iPhone is just the kind of competition that SonyEricsson needs to really create a fantastic phone....

But I'm sure the next P-series phone will have a much faster CPU, much more internal RAM & much better specs. That in itself will already be something to get excited about - and make Nokia sulk again. Shame, Nokia is trying so hard with the N-series to create something special. :)

*Ah! We made it to page 100 - MTNDD will now most probably get celebrity status with his thread on MyADSL? :eek:

My next phone will be the iPhone...

Using my iBook has been nothing but a pleasure....

I don't think there will be any stability issues...

I really like my P990i, but this moves phones to the next level ;)

BTW, the P1000 is already on the horizon

Remember the P900/P910? SE quietly replaced the one with the other after a year, and you had to buy a new one. As I understand it (never owned a P910 or a p900), but the problems then were much more serious than now. To be honest, the P990i is MUCH more usable than my P800 was. I am happy with it, it does what I want it to do.

The only thing I would really want them to address is the memory manager, otherwise it is perfect for me. I doubt SE will drop support for the P990i, at least in terms of developing new firmware, and firmware can sort out all the remaining issues for me.

Though more memory would have been nice, true, and maybe some more snappiness using the UI, but nothing I can't live without for 2 years.

Will also be very annoyed if SE stop supporting & trying to fix the P990i - and instead start working on the successor. That will make me mad. :mad:

I predict that the iPhone will be a huge success and if sales start taking off, I'm sure there will be many different versions of the iPhone in the future....think a nice V3 Razr-like iPhone will be very sexy. ;)

Very good point but if you have a E220 data card then you can use you card for connectivity and the IPHONE for everything else

Hi all, did my upgrade today, everything works great but my contact pictures and 3rd party app logos are kinda pixilated? anyone know a cure?:confused:
 
P990i system crash

This morning I had my first serious crash on my p990.

was playing mp3 via jabra stereo headset and paused mp3 to make a phone call.
dialed phone number and nothing happened.... just that littlle arrow going left to right . no cancel or stop or end call options. nothing !!

had to take battry out to deactivate phone - not even 10sec power button worked.

then restarted everything with headset but without mp3 - able to make call.

I also still seem to have memory leak , even after upgrade. phone starts on 12Mb and slowly deteriorates over 2-3 days until 7Mb - then I restart. not even swismgr pro or taskmanager can recover all memory.

There is no 'cure' yet - same problem with 'speed contacts'.

Maybe the next firmware upgrade will fix it. ;)

Yep Hanno, also experienced it.

Think we're still two MAJOR firmware updates away from a stable phone....

Would you perhaps know when the SE W710/Z710 will be on MTN and at what price?
