Does having a dedicated sound card help that much ?

I have the logitech z680's. Had them for 10 years now :) but i noticed my sound card on my mobo (DX58 smack over) doesnt seem to be the best.

So was just wondering if its really worth 1k to get a dedicated sound card ?

Definitely, especially with headphones. Would start with the Asus Xonar D1 (PCI) or DX (PCI-E).

i have the Sennheiser HD 418's if they are any good :P

ya cause i noticed my onboard sound thinks my subwoofer and right rear speaker are one in the same :/

Sounds like there's something wrong with either the speakers or the settings. But yeah I would recommend you get the ASUS Xonar DX since it's PCI-E.
