Special import phones

I bought my mother a phone on Takealot.
I see it says "special import"

Supplied by Avtel.

Any issues with these phones?
Are the manufacturer warranties valid? in this case Samsung.

The has a sticker on it that says "36 month warranty with supplier". I have no idea if this will be honoured and to what extent.

There are a bunch of stickers on the box, some if which are rather concerning.

Such as:

7) Defective or damaged - Refer to AVTEL brochure for cash voucher
8) wrong colour - Refer to AVTEL brochure for cash voucher
6) software problems - refer to brochure

Then Avatel/TA are the only ones who would honour the warranty. Depending on their policies and the nature of the damage either do a swap, refund or potentially wait weeks for the repair depending on whether or not they do it in-house, local repair shop or ship back to supplier.

But basically if anything goes wrong TA will pick it up, return it to Avatel who will feedback via TA with what the process and timelines will be based on what’s damaged.

Samsung will charge for everything if you take it to them.
