Special parking for Audi drivers

In all fairness, that was a one way. But yeah, growing up in VWs I learned why you park the right way round - you can't push a three way turn :cool:
 
That red line on the side means you're not even allowed to stop there never mind park

Definitely illegal. You can get a fine for parking in the wrong direction.

Yep, the only ticket I've ever received was for parking facing oncoming traffic while offloading truck batteries, thus parking the load side facing the shop entrance. Argue it or justify it as much as I like, I was strictly speaking in the wrong.
 
I had no arguments and I'm not fighting it. Just seems strange that it should matter.

Also I didn't know there was such legislation, I honestly know my road rules better than most I think.
 
Off topic: On Monday when I was driving to work, i drove behind a Proton that had the left indicator on all the way from Virgin Active, Century City to the M5 off ramp where they actually did go left.

I seem to recall from when I did my learners (10 years ago now, so I may be mistaken) that you may not park facing oncoming traffic, so parallel parking on the right-hand side of the road is verboten (obviously, doesn't apply on a one-way road). I used to work in the office park behind the Woolworths centre in Kloof; Durban Metro Police would regularly be fining parallel parkers in Bellevue Road for what I assume was this exact reason.

Of course, in this case, we don't need to worry about this point too much as the guy is parked on a red line... :)

(EDIT: Ah, several posters above me confirmed the parking direction point.)
 
I'd imagine the problem with parking in the wrong direction is you have to cross the opposite lane to get there, same with pulling out. Oncoming cars in that lane also won't see your brake/reverse lights as you're paralleling parking etc.

It's not a big deal, I've never heard anyone being fined for it - but as a general rule it makes sense to me.
