Speed test

here is mine which is abit sad if you ask me!!![:(!]

243.9 kb/s 10:15 5th October.
It is the frikin weekend and it is still slow.

If Sex is a pain in the Arse you doing it WRONG!

This will spin your pips.
I am on dialup and my speed test, just to see what the comparisons were, is
43.59 kbits/sec at 8:29 am on 08 October
So where was broadband a faster connectivity option?

Hi guys

Just did the speed test (Monday 13 October 2003, 11:51), and the speed is 65.54 kbits/sec. Are you guys experiencing slower speeds as well?

your speed is

210.13 kbits/sec but then again, its 11PM

Hmm Probably being sucked out of the telkom "super sexy" net-cache box since I guess SP4 would be a pretty popular download.
Hi Madala,
as a fellow Linux user you might be interested in this file downloader
d4x from
http://www.krasu.ru/soft/chuchelo

I am currently getting 55 kbyte/sec while downloading Windows 2000 SP3 from MS !!!

It does multiple parallel downloads, fooling Telkom's port prioritization.

d4x is still a little bit buggy, but, given the speed advantage I'll live with it.

your speed is

42.01 kbits/sec

Looks like its only getting worse

your speed is

77.73 kbits/sec

Not too bad.

Just wish my download speeds were like that. I'm getting 4.5kbps from a T1 ftp on port 21 *bleh*

you've made a mistake RadRadford, you have to divide your kbits/s by 8 to get an approximation of how many kiloBYTES you can potentially get:

77.73kbits/s = ~9.71KB/s

you got half that on your download, but for a connection potentially capable of doing 64KB/s it's quite a letdown.

your speed is

76.1 kbits/sec

But sometimes I get 276 kbits/sec ... that is with the "speed test". On actual download speeds I get about 50 or less. Never had more.

Hi Xerox, Remember that the speed test is measured in Kilobits not kilobytes so if ur getting 76.1 kbits/sec then you'll download @ 76.1 / 8 = 9.5125 kilobytes per second which is comparable to isdn speed. ADSL is 512k down and 256k up so in essence we should be getting 64 KiloBytes per second on downloads not 50.

your speed is

196 kbits/sec

Saturday 1 November 03, 13:10
31.73 kbits/sec

This is slower than a 56 k Modem, and let us not forget that most businesses using ADSL are closed at this time. It gives us an idea of the contention ratio’s Telkom are using.
