Agreed, however it's possible to have the best of both worlds, which is what I'm looking for. I don't require sporty handling. Straight-line, overtaking 'sport' is what I'd like. With comfort and confidence.
 
In my opinion the 3.0 diesel in such a big body won't give you the 5-6s100km/h without tuning it probably too hard.
Turbo's are already usually a weak point and a tune will stress them further.
7.8s to 100km/h in a touareg should be decent enough for overtaking. If you want faster and still 3l then go for a smaller SUV.
The V8 touareg will cost more to buy and run than the V6 but it will be pretty monstrous by comparison.
The V6 however is a car you will use more because it won't break the bank getting anywhere and TBH 7.8s to 100km/h is still rather quick for such a beast.
It will be difficult to find anything to compete on a price/running cost/performance basis.
 
What would be the market value for an early 2011 Touareg (7P shape), V6 TDI (CASA), with air sus, Standard offroad mode (not additional diff), Halogen headlights, 360 degree camera system, PDC, Dynaudio system, Nav, lane assist (not working), side assist, ventilated and heated power seats, no sunroof (less leaks!), with 180k km on the clock, and an EGR delete?

You're aware that the S in SUV means sport right? So you're looking for a Sport Sport UV?

My friend sold his second RS4.... try changing the brakes or some other maintenance on them. He sold the RS4 and bought an R8 because the maintenance is similar... Cant really compare to new, as a polo gti can have 5 yrs with zero maintenance cost. whereas asking someone to spend a good few 10s of thousands on brakes or R100k on suspension isnt affordable to someone who buys a polo gti.
