I have the very first model. The 4.2L eat tyres (lol).

I personally think the Q7's hold more value than the BMW X5 series (as the BMW gets updated yearly with face lifts).

My honest advice, nothing works forever. And a SUV is a nice toy, but expensive.

Things to consider:
1) new tyres (it isn't cheap and its BIG)
2) extend your warrantee twice at most (after it is throwing money in the water I would say)
3) if interested in an audi, go to audi and print out the FULL history of the car (giving the VIN number)

Is that the 4L Q7 then? Don’t think I’ve seen the 4M in 4.2L unless it’s something like 55 TDI.

Do you know anything about my question re add-ons, audio, etc.?

The consensus I reached was that the equivalent year Touareg is a lot more modern than the 4L Q7 facelift.

weird, do I need to have ownership experience before my brain will remember the fact that one of my best friends owned multiple Alfas from different generations and they all leaked oil?

didn't put him off for some unknown reason, he felt fixing his own cars in the garage every weekend was a labour of love o_O

likewise, a past manager I had owned a 156 Selespeed, also leaked oil and when the time came for a major 60k service Nissan wanted to charge him like 20 grand to replace the timing chain (a standard thing at that low mileage?!?)

... sometimes reputations stick to a manufacturer for a reason

btw I've also never owned a Renault, my dad has though, multiple, over multiple generations, every single one of them developed electrical issues ... or did they? I can't recall seeing as I wasn't the owner :ROFL:

Needs reiterating.

R6K upwards per corner and ANC roads are not friendly to them, nor the alloys. This is mainly for M, M Lite, AMG, etc. Cooking/normal range models will generally have a lot of sidewall and can be driven normally on their generic type tyres and wheel sizes.

They also get the Taos, which we don't get here.

Their SUV/Crossover model line-up is actually confusing, considering you have the following:

Taos/Tharu
T-Cross
T-Roc
Taigo
Tayron
Tiguan
Touareg/Teramont/Atlas

Yes, the only sporty one on my list is the SQ5, but as reasoned, it offers far less than the Touareg and Q7, which makes it a difficult choice. Hence needing to do software on the latter ones. V8 seems fairly sporty, just don’t know if I want another V8.

Well, you wanted a Sporty ride, and to me the Touareg feels more like a Range Rover - the ride is a bit floaty to make it comfortable.

That's why wifey's aunt has had 4 or 5 of them: she's an old tannie who likes to drive in comfort ;)
 
If you already have a fast sedan why go for a high strung suv? If you get a proper 4x4 its all about cruising in comfort, not worrying about the potholes and damaging the 20" low profile rims and tires, taking in the road less traveled, doing trips to places sudo 4x4's/sedans cant go. The quieter more chilled life. Leave the sedan for the fast paced touring/rat race.
 
I'd 100% get a 4.2tdi Touareg (But I'm biased, due to having one too) - Make sure it has air suspension though
In sport (it's lower/harder setting) it handles reasonably well, and the power is obviously amazing. It sounds pretty good for a diesel too.
Additionally, if it matters, I've managed 8l/100 towing a trailer on a long drive. In town I get between 15 and 18 l/100 km though

Strongly considering this, but also need to weigh up what the 3.0 V6 can do with a tune. It might be enough, and on average would be around R50 - R100k cheaper than the V8.

Also, struggling to find them with Dynaudio. I was going to buy a V8 non R-Line 3 years ago, private sale, had all the bells and whistles. Should have!
