Also, just to clarify, Aplon is a brilliant rugby player and has a huge heart which makes him punch above his weight class in defence but obviously he isn't my first choice at fullback. Maybe as a replacement for the last quarter once the game opens up and there is more space for him to take advantage of.

3-4 seasons ago I was very critical of the Stormers decision to play him in the Super 12, thought he would get murdered. Every game he started I thought it would be his last. How the guy hasn't suffered a career ending injury by now is beyond me. Have nothing but respect for him and his abilities on the rugby field. Great player!!

He reason he doesn't get injured as often is because he doesn't get hit as often.
 
Whats that got to do with running from the back? For all we know those could be from a general attack or planned moves, not necessarily counter attack after an opposing side kicking into his half.

? The point is he is not a kicking fullback as illustrated by the stats and contrary to your statement that he kicks a heck of a lot.

I also love Aplon for his never say die attitude and his willingness to leave it all on the field. I would have had him on the bench instead of Basson.
 
Can someone confirm that this game is being shown in 4:3 AR on SS1? I've got a new tv and decoder set up but I thought SS were broadcasting rugby in 16:9 these days???

Did anyone else notice the forward jump in the HD broadcast after the second try was scored? Is the game not live? Wtf?
 
would have taken the scrum there again. could have pressured them again. a yellow and/or penalty try could have been got
 
Our forwards slip a lot I've noticed, whether it's slippery ground or not ..... are they not wearing the right spikes these days or what?

Good run on 15, always was. But the problem is in the greater squad and was highlighted a minute ago when Lambie was down. Why have a specialist centre on the bench?
