SSD or Raptor

The OCZ SSD Drives from the testing I have done and played with personally are exceptionally fast, the pricing on them is much cheaper than some of the intel ones aswell, the vertex drive delivered over 200mbs read and write consistently,
They are avaialble from Prophecy and I think landmark from what I have seen.

I just brought one on Sunday, I should get it tommorow :) OCZ Vertex Series SATA II 2.5 INCH SSD 60GB - ÂŁ170. I downloaded Win7 and I am rdy to install it on my new drive :D
SSD > Raptor anyday -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmtRIrlUIks

I read that too.
This is why I need to know what route to go...

Problem is the SSD's are so expensive!

If you have money to burn, go for it. I personally don't think that the cost is worth the benefit for the average user....

This is what Im leaning towards...
I enjoy my Pc but like 5k to boot quickly...
The raptors seem like the way to go.

Really, you seemed to have no problem dropping money on your setup like 6-7k on a gpu, 10-15k on your i7. Yet you think 5k for an ssd is expensive.

People for some reason believe having a fast cpu and gpu means you'll have a fast system but i can tell you now in terms of raw windows speed my q9550 and 128gb ssd will thump your current windows config because of your slow hdd. I would never in my life run such a end system with a low end hard drive.

I agree with parts of your post.
The whole rig is a platform...
What im saying is... The Price compared to a raptor (Half the Price) For double the volume may work out better for me. The Prices of the items that I bought 3 months ago have dropped by a HUGE amount already. Im pretty sure that SSD's will too.

No Doubt and SSD is amazing! Perhaps for what I want to use it for at this present time, a raptor would maybe be better...

No dude if you don't have the cash for an SSD buy the raptor, it is really fast and i mean 2.4k for a 300gb is an awesome price. The thought you meant the raptor was also too expensive.

This is true...
I suppose its worth it.

I'll wait a little longer for SSDs to really hit the market, I predict in a few months time SSDs will be much much cheaper and bigger capacity.

I have a raptor and the only positive thing I'll say is that the latency is tight, does not drift far from the 7ms.

i will go for the VelociRaptor (keep it till the ssd prices drop) i have 2x80gb raptors in Raid 0..its really quick..

after post to windows 7 up & usable (cpu 0-1% in task manager) in +/-25-30sec..im LOVING these..also remember i have the old "raptor" those are the "VelociRaptors"

also bought it from a guy in JHB..got it the next day with speed services!

'extremeffs', so appropriately named, please google

ocz vertex looks good(search fprp youtube vids on application load and windows load time, this e 38 sexonds, vs. 2.5 mins with 7200), but i can't find the 64GB one and the 32GB one is R2200

im still not sure what i need to spped th

i dunno if i should wait for extremeffs or just go now, yes obviously now would be the obvious, but i don't like switching hdds too many times, it's just as dangerous. would extremeffs be like ntsf or fat32 or will it be integrated?

if you not in a hurry then wait a while! if you need something right now then get the raptor

Well. I can get a 30gig OCZ for like 2k.
Just for windows and like two games...
The rest will be on the other drives.

Is it worth getting a 30 gig drive or am I wasting my time?
