Which is the better franchise? Star Wars or Star Trek? Does the Millennium Falcon trump the Enterprise? Was Han Solo a better captain than Kirk or Picard? Are light sabres cooler than phasers?

I thought the newer Star Trek movies were way more fun than the recent Star Wars movies so I guess I'll give it to Star Trek.

Having said that Star Wars makes poop-tons more money than Star Trek so way more people pay money to see Star Wars than Star Trek.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away there was once a mission to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

Or something ...

Sequel trilogy < Original trilogy < Star Trek <<<<<<<<<<<<<< Prequel trilogy.

No. Just no.

It's Wheel of Time all over again. Self-destructive, dull, characters you hate doing stupid shiat for reasons you couldn't care about in a universe you end up wishing would implode and end the inanity.

The only redeeming character in the series is Miller and he barely factors next to the whining, self-obsessed, head-cases infesting every page.
This...is....agony.........but I HAVE to agree with you wholeheartedly.

Star Wars - too much bang bang, just in space. Only thing they got right is predicting most wearing masks.
Okay-ish I guess.

Star Trek - a whole universe of ideas and meaning to the future, and some bang bang.
You guys haven't even mentioned some of the great side kicks, like ST Deep Space 9 and ST Voyager.

Sorry to hear ST Discovery is underrated by some, haven't seen yet to comment. Any here who can argue its good sides?

Star Wars has always been sci fantasy western style series.

Star Trek is more sci fi (except when its a Netflix adaptation and their starship runs on shrooms).
So is ST Discovery more like a satire than real sci fi? Or maybe a bit like Orville - not to take too seriously.

I dont like how they came up with with the "spore drive". That feels way more Star Wars than Star Trek (ie, its more sci fantasy than sci fi).

The bald klingons actually annoyed the heck out of me. There was no reason for them to mess with the lore. I know Klingons have changed in the past, but the bald look was just off lore. (even if they have made lore to cover up their mess up and even if they gave them back hair in later episodes).

I feel Picard is a more mature and better series than Discovery, but saying that. Discovery is still worth watching.

What both series seems to do (Picard & Discovery) is trash Starfleet. In Picard Starfleet are part of a big conspiracy and in Discovery (in the alt universe) they are pretty much wiped out.

Did anyone notice how Picard seemed to play very heavily on the "anti starfleet" vibe. Often saying things like "they are not the same, they have lost their way", and in the one episode, wearing his Starfleet badge sideways (reminded me of a flag at half mast).

To answer your question. I think Discovery is still good scifi (with a large dose of sci fantasy). I dont think its as good as Picard.

Star Wars for Lego. Star Trek is superior in every other respect.

Very helpful, ta.
Looks like "Picard" is one I never even heard of, just thought you were all talking about his orig. Next Gen. series.

Messing with Klingon genetics is a no-no for me as well. But guess I'll see both.

I was pleasantly surprised finding it as well. Its on Amazon Prime (which you can get 6 months free access to if you have a Vodacom sim). Its set in the Star Trek universe but its not an exploration series like Discovery. Its cool how many from the TNG/Voyager series make cameos on it.
