Starfield

I'm so amped for this game. I've played NMS, Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous etc. But Bethesda really understand stories and gameplay, better than most in my opinion. If this is Skyrim in Space I'll be oh so happy.

That ship creation tool looks awesome! I'm curious to test the limits because it looks you can just go ham.
If only it was elden ring in space :whistling:

Starfield System Requirements
  • Memory: 16 GB.
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070.
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K.
  • File Size: 75 GB.
  • OS: Windows 10.

A 1060 minimum isn't bad, and the CPU requirement isn't high.

I would like to know at which resolution these recommendations are at. Is recommended 1440p, 2k, 4k, high, low, RTX?

The latest Xbox and PS will handle it without any issue. I am sure this game is console optimised, Xbox being the Bethesda trademark now.

That's my thought too. MInimum specs aren't that heavy, but you can be sure that's at 800x600 Ultra-Low with shadows turned off.

Time will tell, but I do expect minimum to be at a playable 1080p low. Once you bring RTX into the equation, the requirements become... erratic. Now with up/super sampling technologies becoming the norm, I have to ask what is specs? Specs on a game has become marketing.

All I know is that the game must be playable on console.

Something tells me that this game will be in the $70-90 bracket, add possible DLC ($30-45, maybe $50), and this is a +$120 title. Ubi territory.

MS is punting the subs hard. Though OT, can anyone guess where a Game Pass sub will be priced in the next 2 years? I can’t see the current price point being sustainable unless games are monetised.

For now, the game will be very accessible to play.

We should get a poll going.

I'm calling R1200

I will definitely be playing the crap out of this. I suspect that will likely only be in 2024 though, I don't think this will launch in an acceptable state in less than a year if that's the gameplay they chose to show us now.

I'm totally cool if they delay it again though, just get it right out of the gate. But I guess that's not really Bethesda's MO

Well Game Pass came out in 2017 and we actually saw a price decrease in March. In January I bought another 3 year's worth with the Live Gold method.

They said Q1/2 2023, though I guess another delay is possible.

MS is building a subscription base, but they have come short every year with their anticipated onboarding. People still buy their games, well, buy access to use. I don't see them increase the subs until they have a adequate base to work with. I do, however, see the subs go up to $19.99 in the next year somewhere. Monetising games could keep the entry point below $15 which would be good.

Man, that is Todd Howard, the #1 gaming industry hype man, and he loves to use deceit. Yes, it is a question about whether how usable all those planets are?

Reason why I said "Mr Overpromise" as he always under deliver.
Sure the game will be great but I am holding judgement till I see reviews on what made it to final product.

As I enjoyed both Elder scrolls and Fallout thus far I am sure I will also enjoy Starfield, just Hope they dumped that aged old engine of prior games, and not try and fix it again.

Agreed.

I'm no game dev, but from what I have seen (and my brief interactions playing around inside of it) Unreal Engine 5 just seems the way to go. Maybe it isn't great at certain things, I don't know, but man it performs well and looks amazing. Between Lumen and Nanite, it's just brilliant.

Will you have the modding capabilities with Unreal though?
That's one of the main things when it comes to Bethesda titles.
The modding scene.

It is the only reason why games like Skyrim and Fallout 4 still have a consistent playerbase in the 10's of thousands.

You can't take that away after 20 years

Agree but, think Unreal still have issues with foliage, well it did when I last looked at it.

Edit: Ignore above, Open world tools released.
