Steers vs Burger King

Sandman, why don't steers have lekka onion rings man?
My GF told me she actually got onion rings at the steers @ OR Tambo a year or two ago (I remember going to my local steers, and all I got were weird looks from the staff like I was insane)

The Fish & Chip Co at Cinamon Square serve a moerse box stacked FULL of onion rings for only R8 (I don't even know how they make a profit on that box there is so much rings) so I would honestly pay R15 for even less if it was Steers Onion rings

I prefer the ones Burger King/Fishaways sell (chopped up onions that build these bigger onion rings, in a crispy batter)
I know it's artificial and there are probably msg powder and whatnot in it, but that's the way I like it. I prefer the "fake re-created onion rings"

Please Sandman, having chips as the only option is so 90's... give us cool SIDES!!!

Was thinking the same the other day actually.

Steers needs more options. Salads. Something with vegetables. Become competition for Nandos. How about a nice rump steak with fried egg and chips?

They were experimenting with onion rings at one stage. Don't think they ever fully endorsed the concept.

It's an area where Steers has failed some what, diversifying the menu.

Ultimately the top 20 selling items has pretty much stayed the same for the last 5 years.

The Steers diners have a wider range but located predominantly at Shell ultra cities.

That place is down the road from me. Awesome burgers and pizza

sigh, straying off topic as usual, but was there the other day and had the "are you mad burger", with jalapenos and apricot sauce was so so good.

was a toss up between that and the calzone, I guess calzone will be next time.

Maybe because they have only had the same 20 things on the menu for the last 5 years. :D

Now that Steers and milky lane have joined forces let me order a savoury waffle from Steers.

Quite possibly.

We had the, "it's about the burger" menu update about 8 years ago where Steers introduced a whole lot of new burgers, the same old suspects continued to dominate...

It's because Steers is a "Burger place" in people's minds. When they go to Steers, they already have their preference and know what they want.

It's not like Nandos that you can walk in and choose from a range of things. I can walk in to Nandos and say "what do I feel like today?". You can't do that at Steers. It's burger or burger or burger.

Try the mama mia burger ;)

I had steers two years ago after an exam but this was at bright water commons (think they have closed now)? Also the steers in Parkmore closed and I heard it was because of some sort of fall out with someone.

You need to visit more halal stores, some sell the steak, rump or t bone with steers sauce.

Still just burgers.

No real options for a dinner meal.

Compare the options in the R40-R60 bracket between Nandos and Steers that would be suitable for dinner.
Steers: Burger. Hero roll.
Nandos: quarter chicken meal, chicken salad, chicken burgers, wraps, chicken + veg + rice plus I can add spinach or a mielie to any meal.

Never mind the Hero rolls are expensive for what you get.

i used to love the hero steak with mushroom sauce and cheese

and i dont see it anymore

and its gone pricey for normal steak rolls

Hero rolls have been completely butchered, over priced and the quality of the steak they supplying us is poor!!

But the point I was trying to make is that because the rest of menu is so tiny people only go to steers when they already know they want a burger.

More options will dispel the "Steers is only for burgers" image and you will get people walking in when not sure what they want because you will have a range to support that.

I would then assume the quality of the halal steak supplier is better?
I has a hero steak roll on Sunday and it had 4 decent pieces of medium grilled steak inside.
