Steers vs Burger King

But the point I was trying to make is that because the rest of menu is so tiny people only go to steers when they already know they want a burger.

More options will dispel the "Steers is only for burgers" image and you will get people walking in when not sure what they want because you will have a range to support that.

I'm not sure Steers want to dispel that image though. Burgers is and continues to be their core business. Burgers and chips and I don't have a problem with that provided the quality and service remains high. Once that starts slipping we in trouble.

Yes, a menu that seldom changes becomes stale and boring but rather than introduce a new range, rather introduce new combinations of burger.

A bigger and more diverse menu doesn't necessarily equate to better but new and exciting flavours could have the desired effect.

IE Bacon and blue cheese burger
or Biltong Burger
or a 3 cheese burger comprising chedar cheese, a rich cream cheese and fried haloumi. Anyone remember the Titan burger?

I would then assume the quality of the halal steak supplier is better?
I has a hero steak roll on Sunday and it had 4 decent pieces of medium grilled steak inside.

Quite possible the branch is sourcing their steak from a private butcher and not the Steers head office central kitchen.

Steers honestly needs to get some sides going though...

-Mcdonalds has Chicken Nuggets, Mini Wraps & Hashbrowns
-KFC has Chicken Pops, Zinger wings, Mini Twisters
-Wimpy has a pletora of stuff including onion rings
-Maxi's also has a lot of stuff, and again, onion rings.
-Spur also has a wide variety of starters/sides and onion rings is mandatory
-Even Burger King will have Onion rings, Chicken Nuggets, Chilly Cheese Nuggets and Wings.

Steers have none of that.. Nada. Nothing. Their menu doesn't even have a Sides Section, your only choice is slap chips.

Get something besides chips on the menu... anything!

I've even compiled an image for you of what some burger joints do overseas, to give you an idea

steers doesnt do it for me anymore

and that ad is false advertising

the 2 steers close to me dont sell bacon

one on strand street and the one in golden acre

1. Bacon is over-rated in a burger, me thinks.

2. I have yet to get a burger from Steers that looks like the pic. So yeah, possibly is false advertising on that score too? :p

Lol.

You're missing the point.

When I know want a burger I go Steers. If I'm not sure what I want I go to Nandos and sometimes get a burger anyway.

More burgers won't solve the problem that Steers only has burgers.

No dude, I hear you. I just don't agree that being associated exclusively with burgers is a bad thing, provided as I said earlier, we doing it right!!

Anyway, let's agree to disagree..

I'm not going to Steers if every other place has onion rings except them though... I love onion rings and since other places are offering them now, so i'll rather go there.

Bring back Deeburgers (later called Panburgers)! It was a mandatory stop down Barry Hertzog Ave before the rinderpest.

And they had BACON.

The reason I'm mentioning this is the place I usually go to for food has a Steers and Nandos right next to each other. Nandos is always packed while Steers may have 1 or 2 people there.

I'd definitely eat more Steers if they expanded their menu.

Like Milky Lane's savoury waffle for example :)

Hero rolls have been completely butchered, over priced and the quality of the steak they supplying us is poor!!

And yet it's probably my favourite thing at Steers. That's said our branch in Bergbron has the smallest hero steak roll I have yet seen so I hardly buy it any more.

The brand was established on the back of its famous BBQ sauce, homemade chips, the Steer burger and the Hero Steak Roll. Personally I think it's something of a tragedy that the item should have deteriorated to the extent that it has.

Back to steers, they have the best soft serve anywhere. Their mix beats Spur (too watery) McD's (too chalky with a noted sugar salt kick) and only R4 plain- a bargain by any stretch but here's how dumb kids are. you give them a R10 note and they go for a dipped R4 cone or a R4 cone with a flake and all of sudden their ice cream costs R9 because either dress up option is R5.
The clever kids would get 2 cones. I tried explaining this to my kid and it was like talking to a brick wall. Don't they teach them math properly these days?

Mighty King Steer Burger :wtf:? Should replace the third patty with a hashbrown .

Take away all the sauces and you are eating cardboard :D

oh please, this joke is so old it's not even funny..
"McDonals tastest like cardboard. Steers tastes like cardboard. Burger King tastes like cardboard"

You telling me all these years you never eat at Steers or McDonalds? please. Where do you eat burgers then?

Dude, I've tasted them all and they are horrible, they don't taste like meat at all. The closest any franchise comes to a real meat taste is spur. But to answer your question I I make my own 200g patties from ground beef and they taste like a good steak. Even the local church fate makes a burger that will put to shame anything from some kuk franchise.

PS. Same goes for pizza. The really interesting thing is that it costs a fraction of the costs and no it does not take hours to make.

Where da fsck is DJ to berate you!? :D
