Stop Sign Traffic Fine

I have also got those looks before at stop sign. I honestly don't like how some people behavior here like they have not broke road rules, in life nobody is perfect like it or not everyone has broke the road rules. Worse part old people are attacking me and I don't know how many times must I say I'm know I'm wrong the is no excuse for my behavior nxa. I don't know where they got the impression that I said yielding is okay.

I'm not encouraging breaking road rules but unfortunately it does happen once in a while.

Only person me the answer about the court issue and going rate for stop sign. That is all I needed since I know I'm guilty for not stopping.

I yield at YIELD signs and stop at STOP signs. That's how I was TAUGHT. (Not bought).

I also don't let my feelings get hurt when someone tells me I drive a slow car. At least mine's paid for in full.
 
I'm sure referring to the other person I was responding to that he also have also maybe yield at a stop sign. But never said yield is at a stop sign is right.
 
Hehe. My first ever traffic fine - a massive R5 - was for not coming to a dead stop behind the white line. On my nifty fifty, near Emmie dam. By a white skullcap old-style Joburg traffic cop on a white Triumph. Got it reduced to R3 after visiting the Traffic Dept. No excuses. Guilty, and lesson learned.

PS. R5 was half a month's pocket money.

Oh shame no wonder we live in a screwed up country. I asked simply two questions only one person answered me. Others decided to be judge Judy. Any where thank you everyone who responded hope you all had fun.

My grandfather had a story like this, with a twist. My grandfather protested to the officer that he had stopped, but the traffic officer in a slow drawl said, "No sir. Your wheels were still revolting."

I bear that in mind every time I come to a stop sign and it's saved me many a would-be fine.

Ramodiana, please re-do your licence or study the K53 handbook again at the very least. You drive with a learner's sticker on your car because you seem to think it makes you immune to danger, and yet even a learner knows to stop at a stop street.

Hey, just got here and I want to add my 2c. Firstly, yes I have yield at a stop sign sometimes I know it's wrong too and you are generous enough to say you will pay the fine (after it gets reduced).

I must say though, I am on your side that some of the commentary was uncalled for but hey, this is mybb. You open yourself to it when you create these threads.

That reminds me, weren't you once concerned that you damaged your car by pushing the clutch and the accelerator pedals in at the same time? And then your mirror...

Not trying to be funny, but is the reason that you don't come to a full stop because you haven't yet mastered clutch control? In which case, maybe you can get some lessons?

This again :-( we going in circle here really I know my english is not up to sketch but can before responding take time to read. Nowhere I have said YIELDING at the stop sign is alright. My first post I said I'm know wrong I admit that. I asked only two questions going rate and the court date. I really don't know why should I go re do my license, everything time when you get traffic fine do you go redo your license. You guys don't have balls to face taxi drivers who drive reckless, but you got balls to tell me to go redo my license because I got traffic fine.

People get traffic fines everyday I'm not encouraging that but they don't go redo their license. Some of them will never admit they were wrong, so why should I go redo my license. Even to the traffic officer I apologized I said I'm sorry sir.

Useless sidebar: Just did some calcs comparing the OP's R800 fine vs my R5 fine for the same thing. Back then petrol was 8c a litre, so the R5 fine was 62.5 litres of petrol. R800 is pretty much the same today. It's the PicoRand that's changed.
 
In a fairly busy road near me there are 4, 4-way stop streets. Quite often, when I stop briefly (1/2 second) the person behind me hoots. Today I noticed it was the same car (red Honda CRV) that was hooting that I saw last week. When I got to the last intersection where the cross street is obscured by a tree, I spotted a car approaching the cross street. Gent behind sat on his hooter until I moved off, which took several seconds.

We met at the traffic lights were I pulled up next to him on his left. I leaned over and tapped on the window. He looked straight ahead and would not acknowledge me

Selfish? Bad blood pressure problem? Needed to go to the toilet urgently? Or simply a poor w*nk*r?
 
The following fines will increases:

• Falling to stop on demand of a traffic officer R500 to R1 500
• No driving licence - R500 to R1 500, HEAVY R2 500
• No **PrDP - R2500, and with passengers R3 000
• Unroadworthy vehicles - R1000 to R3 000
• Unroadworthy bus or minibus - R1 000 to R3 000
• Contrary to discontinue notices - R3 500
• Operator safety issues - R3 000
• Inconsiderate driving - R1 000 to R2 500
• Scholar stop - R500 to R3 000
• Level crossing - R500 to R3 000
• Normal stop - R500 to R1 500, with *PrDP R3 000
• Bus and minibus stop - R500 to R1 500
• Disregarding bus/minibus lane - R500 to R1 500
• No overtaking line - R1 000 to R2 500 and PrDP R3 500
• Skipping traffic lights - R1 000 to R2 000 and R2 500 for PrDP
• Service brakes - R500 to R2 500 PrDP

According to the department, offences for overloaded vehicles changed from kilogram categories to a percent rating - If vehicles are over the 14% to 33% threshold, fines will range from R750 - R5 000 (from R250 and R2 500).
