Stop Sign Traffic Fine

At the very least stop dead and go into first while looking left and right.

If you have some momentum left after letting go of the brake then bonus for you.

But if you yield that bastard in second gear without so much as touching the brakes you deserve to get fined and/or suffer a karmic puncture.

I nearly had an accident head collision with
navy blue Toyota Fortuna as usually the taxi in front of me stopped without any warning. I shifted and try to over take the taxi here comes a navy blue Toyota Fortuna the idiot didn't switch on his/her lights. The road rules say after 18:00 we should switch on our car lights, so other drivers can be aware of you. Tjerr and to think today is my first day with King Price imagine if I had to claim on first day.

I don't know what was wrong with me today I drove my car with the hand brake on, it was like for 5 seconds and the bell rang that I'm driving with the hand brake. As if things could not get worse while standing I pressed the clutch and accelerate at same time unaware.

Could those things have damaged my car I'm bit worried I really abused my car today.

So today I got my first traffic fine I was driving in a quite area, the was a car behind me when I got to the stop sign I just yield because it was clear to go. I after that the car behind me started flashing light I just kept driving. Later I stopped as it was clear the person in the car wanted to talk to me. When the guy got out of the car it's a traffic office they gave me R800 ticket for not stopping at the stop sign. He was also driving a private car can I use that to reduce the ticket.

My question how much is the going rate for stop sign, I can't read the guy's hand writing I know I got fined R800. On 30 August 2017 I must appear in court at room B.

The is no excuse for my behavior looking back now not stopping just yielding could have, caused accident if the was other car.

I love how you ask about the going rate for not stopping at a stop sign, as if traffic offences are a commodity.

At first I thought you need driving lessons, but what you really need is common sense.

Indeed the are perfect people here they can't do anything wrong in life. Well I live in really world I know lot of people who struggled when they first started driving, some of them thought they will never know how to drive since they made so many mistakes. If the was something with my license or the way I drive beside the yielding at the stop sign. I believe the traffic officer could have taken my license and told me to go redo it. But he knows I'm not the first or last person to yield at a stop sign, he gave me a ticket.

The guy who taught me how to drive told me, the is no perfect driver you can drive for 30 years but the is that day you will make a mistake. I'm not the first or the last person to get a traffic fine, but I would love for some of you guys who have enough balls to face anyone who screw up today on the road.

Since it's so nice to hide behind your fancy cellphone and tell me crap. I bet someone you have traffic tickets

This thread is a perfect example of why I said that. All the hoohaa earlier, and people thinking you think it's okay to yield at stop signs is purely because you don't take the time to type actual English, so your posts are confusing. You may not be a native English speaker, but this is an English forum mostly, so it is in your interests to speak the language of the people.

Anyway. Stop at stop signs. Obey the speed limit. Wear your seatbelt. Follow the rules of the road. You got fined because you broke the law. SO, don't do it and you will live longer and be richer and happier and will have more time to think of how to start a thread that isn't about motoring.

I got a fine about 10 years ago for the same reason. Was R500 back then.

Comparing to the what the price of brandy was back then to now the fine did not go up by much.

This again :-( we going in circle here really I know my english is not up to sketch but can before responding take time to read. Nowhere I have said YIELDING at the stop sign is alright. My first post I said I'm know wrong I admit that. I asked only two questions going rate and the court date. I really don't know why should I go re do my license, everything time when you get traffic fine do you go redo your license. You guys don't have balls to face taxi drivers who drive reckless, but you got balls to tell me to go redo my license because I got traffic fine.

People get traffic fines everyday I'm not encouraging that but they don't go redo their license. Some of them will never admit they were wrong, so why should I go redo my license. Even to the traffic officer I apologized I said I'm sorry sir.

It doesn't: people who are on here regularly see and remember a lot more than you'd expect, and you must admit that you have a terrible history of posting really crazy things about your driving (e.g.driving only in the yellow lane because that's supposedly safer or keeping the L sign on the back after getting your license because that will warn other motorists that you can't actually drive yet).

How on earth could you be "sure you have to yield at a stop sign"? If you were sure of such a crazy, basic thing, then what next? Sure that a red traffic light means go? Sure that we drive on the right-hand side of the road in South Africa?

You WILL get into an accident if you continue driving like this (being sure that one yields at stop signs), so I am entirely correct in advising you to re-take your driver's license (because clearly you learned nothing the first time around if you still have beliefs like the ones you have expressed above -> even IF you have since recognised you made a mistake).

When you drive, you are handling a deadly weapon like a gun. You can and will kill somebody if you make a big enough mistake. There is no saying 'sorry' after that.

Agree with you 100%. He should get a warning for causing confusion in the forums

He already got a fine for driving. Hopefully he realises "passing" a driving test means that he is supposed to be 100% competent and safe on the road. He should consider that and then decide to actually be that, instead of acting like a taxi driver.

Oh, now I understand why I have been sworn at by drivers behind me for actually stopping at a stop sign. Its because some are under the impression that its how it should work, i.e the stop sign is only there for dramatic effect at that intersection. Nothing more.

I've also had that a few times, could never understand why. Maybe some people do think you are allowed to yield at a stop sign, evidently so going by this thread.

My grandfather had a story like this, with a twist. My grandfather protested to the officer that he had stopped, but the traffic officer in a slow drawl said, "No sir. Your wheels were still revolting."

Recently, while wife and I were in the States visiting family, our son-in-law (a yank from Boston, now living in Texas) was copped for not coming to a complete stop. The Texas cop said in a deep Tyler drawl: "Son, that was a clear California Roll. This a Texas." He got an official warning (paper and on record) but no fine.

We now use that term: California Roll.
