Stop whining and wake up and smell the JAVA!!

To be fair, I refer to a recent thread about Sybaritic - they got praises from many people on here for their fantastic service!

So its not impossible for Neotel to get Praise - if only they will pull their socks up! The resent Talk about improvements (by RPM) is just that, Talk! Until there is actual Improvements, Neotel sucks!.
Another +100!

Must be.... and if you are implying that I am a dumbass please check again, i probably know more about wireless networks than you think.

The towers are congested it does not matter if you have the best signal possible, a congested tower is going to give you poor performance period.

So maybe you are lucky to connect to one that is not...

Just on a side note on the 24-contract thing, i assume everyone is aware you can cancel this contract without a penalty [as far as i can tell] and only have to pay back the device? [or give it back] It's the exact opposite of what Vodacom/MTN's contract will do to you [they force you to pay back the actual "outstanding" value of the contract, even though not you or Voda/MTN is going to use resources]

Or am i missing something? It's quite clear on Neotel's FAQs....

INTEGRITY??? It's not integrity buddy... it's making lemonade out of lemons! I believe the consumer is right, and any company (including Neotel, who I have not had any problems with and hopefully won't) that is placing it's customers at a disadvantage must be dealt with in whatever way possible.

I work in the service industry servicing the UK client market, a much more discerning and questioning market than SA. Also, the UK market knows what their rights are and fights to have them enforced, even if that fight includes taking "alternative" measures.

I was unhappy with Vodacom and after much arguing and fighting, I got out of a two year contract and I got a refund of my last three months bills. So my integrity is intact because I know I will make sure whichever company I deal with provides me with the service I pay for.

As for Neotel, I will continue praising them until I have problems. If I have said problems, I will follow whatever course I need to to resolve these problems. It's called being an informed and prudent consumer... something you guys clearly know nothing about, judging by the lack of research I see in your posts!

What about people who sign up and start with excellent coverage only for the tower to be turned in another direction and have zero coverage?

What about people who get charged for usage on an ulimited account?

What about people who get charged incorrectly?

What about people getting 5KB/s?

What about people not having their account provisioned correctly?

What about the useless technical support?

What about the fact that theyve openly admitted that no one will call you back?

Speed is but a small factor of the woes. And whilst my experience with neotel has been mostly pleasurable - the complaints of this forum have HELPED neotel with problems by meeting and discussing issues with them where most non-technical people would have no idea what to do.

Im not saying some people dont whine - they do - and ive told many people off here. Whining is useless unless u do something about it and actually go and get off your ass and try to get it solved - which is what this forum is aiming at- to help neotel. Were not a hellopeter - were like consultants who pay neotel to help them.

I'm sorry, but I can't take anyone who advocates blatant fraud to escape a contractual obligation seriously.

You work in the service industry? So you'd be OK with a customer of yours bs'ing you in order not to fulfill his or her contractually-derived obligation to you?

Be careful of heaping praise on Notel in your own neighborhood. Everyone else will soon start thinking you've discovered the holy grail and also sign up. Within a month you'll be connecting to a tower as congested as all the other suffering clients. ;)

Wait a minute here - you've only been with Neotel for a week??

Everyone had good speeds the first week...? We even had good speeds with iBurst Initially...

you will soon feel the wrath of neohel my friend, soon enough.

here's one of gdiza's early posts:

I'm finally covered by Neotel in my area (Gardens - Vredehoek) - I can get PRIME or LITE.

Took forever, but yeah - covered!

damn...... we all know where that ended....

Guys, stop arguing with this PsychoSid fool because people can't tell who the idiot is. Everything he has posted is based on his personal experience and equates to nothing, absolutely nothing.

Case closed!

Now, for all you naysayers who have nothing better to do than whine about their lives and every little thing that pops into their meaningless minds: Go on to YouTube and look for videos by a guy named Chris Crocker. This idiot has become famous for whining online about anything that peaks his interest. Clearly he has an audience, but sadly, you naysayers do not.

Silverside, your post sounds quite whiney.

What a yawn.

Firstly, the title of this thread is really LAME.

Secondly, you haven't been with Neotel as long as some of us. I've been with them now for 7 months. Many people have been longer than me.

We've ALL had issues with Neotel, no one can tell me they haven't had an issue of any sort with Neotel. Give Neotel some time and then you'll be the one whining. ;)

silversid is a smacktard.
Im also guessing he/she/it works for neotel or an affiliate.

wireless internets == teh_fail

Gosh you guys are funny... it's so amusing to see defensiveness in an online forum... Freud would be proud.

To address some issues:

1. I do not work for Neotel. I work for Discovery managing a service department, and I have an extensive career in network and internet support (a career I have no desire to go back to as I really can't fathom the idea of dealing with network support queries. I rather give hell to those who do the support!).

2. Yes, I have only been with Neotel for a week. I could have signed up ages ago, but do you know why I didn't? BECAUSE OF ALL THE SERVICE ISSUES AND READING YOUR GUYS RESPONSES ON THE FORUMS!!! I only signed up once I had guaranteed proof that they improved their service and extended their coverage. So for all of you that have been with them for 7 months or however long, sorry for you if you jumped on a bandwagon without doing your research! There is a concept of promoting an early adopter, but that concept only works out if the adopter is actually doing something to take their service further. Neotel seems to be doing this, and I hope they continue. iBurst on the other hand, has done nothing to improve their service!

3. Forums are here for people to report their findings and discuss them in an open environment. Also, I am sure that Neotel has read these forums and attempted to field the queries. However, the integrity of forums is compromised when you get a whole lot of sheep repeating themselves and not adding anything worth while. yes, Neotel had lots of congestion problems. But they have taken measures to improve this... those of you still with Neotel, try your options out. Get an antenna. Wait until coverage in your area improves. Do whatever it takes to get the most out of this new provider. Those of you who have left Neotel... stop whining on the forums about them! Go complain about your current provider because I'm sure you are the type of people that will find fault with anything! Would you like some cheese with your whine?

and finally 4: back to the question of integrity and customer rights. If you guys work in the network or technical support environments, I'm not surprised you feel so pessimistic. I felt exactly the same way when I worked in that environment. THAT'S WHY I LEFT!!! Because I don't particularly enjoy projecting my general disatisfaction at any medium that is open to take it. The truth is THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!! People in SA don't really believe that because we're conditioned to just accept Telkom or Eskom or Government's answers as final. However, put up enough of a fight and you will get what you want.

The concept is this: If enough consumers start demanding their rights, then suppliers have no choice but to comply. The only reason providers get away with literal murder is because consumers let them walk over them. We may not have an infrastructure or government like other European countries, but public sector companies rely on our custom to survive. If we question their support levels enough to cause them to wake up and smell the coffee, they are forced to either lose out business or do something about it. Not enough people get this concept, hence why I have to fight so hard to get what I deserve.

Having said that, I wish you guys would direct your negativity in the right directions, because then maybe you would see tangible results!

and I have just re-read my Neotel contract. You can cancel your contract if you have moved out of a coverage area, or if you are not receiving the coverage you should be. They will not tie you down to pay the rest of your contract balance and you can return your device to any Autopage dealer or Neotel outlet.

1. How would that work... exactly?

2. Its not literal murder.

3. They literally are not forced to 'lose out business' [sic] because people are literally locked into a 2 year contract.

Stop ****ting through your teeth.

And to all those who have categorically stated how brilliant they are with networking and feel the need to express their superiority and knowledge... I have one thing to say to you...

WHOOOP DE DOO BASIL!!!

Now go back in your hole

:)

And Slinky dinky... I am Jewish actually, which makes my analogy much more relevant! And for the record, I am the grandchild of a Holocaust survivor... so I feel I have much more right to use this analogy as it is VERY relevant to me. And please think before responding to this... or is that just too much to ask?

Gosh you guys are sour!! I'm sorry you don't have good internet... I do, and I will toot my own horn about it! It just so happens that I am getting a good connection with Neotel. Deal with it.

(By the way, I am really not trying to offend anyone... it just comes naturally! KIDDING!! I have a very sharp tounge in cheek manner, and (un)fortunately it comes out quite well in my writing! Seriously, if I have offended anyone I do apologise, that was not my intention. I'm just happy with my service now, and I intend to keep you updated regarding that over the next few months.)

This guy is a troll, nothing else people.

He seems to like to get a reaction out of everyone, wants to sound clever and professional, and then insult people who differ from him.

Hopefully I'm the last one bumping this thread, and like many who has the actual 1st hand experience with NeoHel mentioned, he'll most probably still eat his words.

I'm not trying to get a reaction out of anyone dude... I just started this thread to post my positive experience as a new user. i thought this would be usefull as a perspective from someone who has just joined after Neotel implemented network and coverage upgrades. I intend to keep this thread updated with my progress and I hope that it provides a decent perspective, considering that there is so much negativity already.

I'm just trying to be positive about it man! I just want internet at home that is reliable and does what I need, and so far I'm getting exactly that.

Having said all that, I can't help but laugh at all the negative responses because people are sour. Guys, seriously, if you're not happy, do something about it! we don't live in Europe where everything is practically done for you. You have to fight to get what you want, so fight already! Trust me, it works!

And please don't slam me for trying to be positive... I have many more negative traits that deserve criticism other than my positivity. Luckilly you guys have no idea what those traits are! HAHA

Where the bloody hell were you when we were fighting for a couple of months for upgrades and improvements? You were on the sidelines reading the threads like a damn coward!! and what bloody guarantee did you get that everything is permanently resolved, I certainly have'nt seen anthing from Neotel to that effect.
You can now go ahead and post to to hearts content but this forum and it's members will treat you like the coward troll you are.
