Don't really know what you mean by "kiddy" but the kids are essentially the main characters throughout the show, you'll see them a lot.
 
Also started a binge session last night, and got about halfway through the season. Epic show with an epic soundtrack...

I'm not too fond of kids in the lead, but it's my own fault for ignoring the Disney looking poster posted earlier.
 
Nothing wrong with kids in the lead when it's done right. It was especially good during the 80s, with movies like Stand By Me being a good example. The annoyance factor is a recent trend, which thankfully this show doesn't follow...
 
^, dunno if anyone missed it but the series Freaks and Geeks was an excellent show set in the late 70's (I think - might have been really early 80's). Find it and give it a watch if you haven't already. They're not kids (teenagers) but the feel of the show is similar.

as for Stranger Things, I really enjoyed it for what it is...a throwback to a simpler era.

I actually enjoyed the kids in this series, usually i hate them.

Anyone else get the feeling the second episode was based on ET.

Guys in white hazmat suites, Boys on the their bikes, girl (ET) gets put in the cupboard and hidden from mom, says home from school, girl messes around with phone (home)

Great story though - loving it so far.

Finished the series last night. Definitely a good series and something different from the crap out today.

I'd actually say that the quality of series these days is far better than it used to be. It's the movies that have gone backwards...
