I currently want to study IT next year and im between CTI and UNISA ?
CTI offers me a BSc in IT wich covers just about everything wich is ideal, but UNISA has :erm:

BSc Information Technology and Computer Science: Computational Intelligence Stream (02089 - ICI)
Bachelor of Science Information Technology and Computer Science: Computational Statistics (Information Systems) Stream (02089 - ICS)
Bachelor of Science Information Technology and Computer Science: Computational Statistics (Programming) Stream (02089 - ICP)
Bachelor of Science Information Technology and Computer Science: Decision Modelling and Computing Stream (02089 - IDC)
Bachelor of Science Information Technology and Computer Science: Information Systems and Geography (02089 - ISG)
Bachelor of Science Information Technology and Computer Science: Information Technology Management Stream (02089 - ITM)
Bachelor of Science Information Technology and Computer Science: Information and Decision Modelling Stream (02089 - IDM)
Bachelor of Science Information Technology and Computer Science: Scientific Computing Stream (02089 - ISC)
Bachelor of Science Information Technology and Computer Science: Software Engineering Stream (02089 - ISE)

please help ?? what is recomended ?:(

Always go through an accredited university like UNISA. It's just more widely recognised. (CTI can give out B.Sc. degrees now??)

If you click on each of those on UNISA's site, you can view the curriculum for each. Will give you an idea of the subjects you'll be taking.

Mostly just the electives will differ and the majority of employers probably won't care too much. So go for electives you'll enjoy.

Go google this: "site:mybroadband.co.za/vb CTI" and the go to UNISA

What do you want to go do after you get your BSc?

Do a search here about CTI its not reccomended rather go to a proper university.

Incorrect. Unisa has:
Bachelor of Science in Computing (98906)
Bachelor of Science in Informatics (98907)

The others are only for students that have enrolled for them before their cut-off date which has now passed.

Looks at it this way even VW no more produces the CTI cti.jpg
But always choose a university over a private college for a degree

Register with UNISA for Bsc in Computing. Other streams that you have mentioned are being phased out by UNISA.

From what I remember, CTI doesn't offer degrees, but their courses are accredited by University of Caimbridge (can't spell - sorry). That is what I remember from 2002 and them trying to rope me in when I was in school. You'll come out of there with a certificate of some sort - at best. I vaguely remember there being some way to get credits with them to have the chance of somehow finishing a degree through that british Uni, but I have no idea how, or if things have changed.

UNISA offer Bsc's.

Unisa is correspondence, CTI isn't - but you're pretty much on your own there as well. Instructors are there to help you when you're stuck, but that's as far as it goes. You have to go through all the material on your own.

A full on Bsc is 3 years full time, which most or all of CTI's courses are only a year.

I've been in the development field for about 3 to 4 years now. I've been studying my Bsc through UNISA for longer (the software engineering stream - which is being phased out). Pretty much every company is looking for people with a degree such as those mentioned in the OP.

All in all I think the Bsc direction is the best route. I won't lie though, it's hard - like most things I suppose :)

Unisa definitely worth it. Make no mistake distance learning can be very difficult.
