Grim, are you feeling better? If not, I'd suggest seeing someone a bit more qualified.
Whereabouts in JHB North are you?
If you're going to Wilgehewul, I can suggest Robin Ballantine, pretty sure he's still there. Best doctor I've ever dealt with, but he's just a general surgeon AFAIK, not a Cardiothoracic specialist.
Larry Rampini at Olivedale is considered a very good Cardiothoracic surgoen and is worth a try. Personally I'll never see the man again even if it's between him and certain death, but I think it was more a personality clash than anything else.
Sonya(or was it Sandra) van Riet at Flora clinic is an excellent Cardiothoracic surgoen and a lovely person to boot. A tiny little lady who takes no nonsense, firm but kind. If I have any issues again I'll go straight to her.
Oh and I've also dealt with Mohammed Hameed before, has offices at Wigehewul and at Flora. Brilliant no nonsense guy, would go see him again though he like Ballantine is just (and I use "just" very lightly, both are amazing doctors) a general surgeon.

Thanks Derrick. Olivedale would be closest, I am just down the drag. But that Dr doesn't sound like fun. I get HIGHLY annoyed with rude, arrogant, wise a$$ Dr's. Just because you are a Dr doesn't mean you are god.
Anyway, may be worth while going to Wilgehewul, its not far.
That was my thinking as well. I know some of these specialists smash you with R800 bill for 10 mins of their time.
