Sudden chest pain?

Sounds about right. I witnessed my mother having a heart attack. Was sweating profusely, lips went blew and in intense pain.

yeah wind can be incredibly painful. The symptoms can mimic a heart attack

Yeah wind is seriously not funny! I have had it before and its not nice.

This isn't wind I don't think, wind normally doesn't last for long.

Try a pinched nerve ;) Normally clears up after a while of relaxing (not tensing up and letting the nerve release). Can be brought on by a cough or even just sitting wrong for a short while.

It's like a sharp pain when you try to take a deep breath, so you are forced to breath shallow.

Also, can feel a bit sensitive, like a dull bruise, after the nerve is released. Should be fine in a few hours.

If it's sharp pain ALL the time, then worry more... ;)

Ah this could be a possibility. Never thought of that. Will see how it is tomorrow and make a call.

I get wind pains often, sometimes sharp and sometimes not. I have a glass of water few sips at a time and try to burp it out (the pressure). Sometimes pain doesn't go away till the BIG ONE is out.

My triggers are coffee and foods high in starch like bread and roti. Also peanuts. I understand when and how so I prefer not to have the wrong foods evening time or later.

There aren't any doctors here so none of our advice really counts. If you have any kind of chest pain go and see a doc! Now! No matter what your age - you could have a heart attack even if your 20.

If you can't get an appointment just go to the nearest hospital with a casualty ward and say you're having chest pains.

Your family history, did anyone in your family have heart problems?

Any updates Grimspoon?

The last time I ignored chest pain, I ended up in ICU with a fat tube in my chest and a collapsed lung. Don't ignore chest pain, ever.

Hi Guys,

I woke up this morning still with the pain. I couldn't get to the doc as I had way to much work and meetings, yes I know, I am an idiot.

But the pain is a lot better. I personally think I pulled a muscle (how I dunno?) or it is a pinched nerve.

I have been careful and if I notice any other symptoms or anything unusual I will go straight to the emergency room.

Good to hear that Grimreaper didn't come for Grimspoon. Still, go check it out!

Any family history of heart attacks?

Hi Fuma, technically yes, my dad has had stents put into his heart for blockages. He has had 2 mini attacks. According to the doctor this is due to his heavy smoking which has caused severe blockages.

He recently had a serious stroke. Doctor did warn him to quit smoking but sadly he is not interested.

But whether it is something hereditary I am not sure.

I would recommend you go to a specialist physician once a year for a full medical. I assume you have a reasonably good medical aid? Specialists are expensive. Mine costs R3.5k per visit escalating at 10% annually.

Its not normal to be in any pain for extended amounts of time. If you end up in hospital or worse, your company will just replace you... sad but true. Besides how productive are you while you're in pain all the time? Regardless of the current intensity of the pain or you feeling “better,” your body is trying to tell you something. You should listen! It may have just been a warning shot.

Okay, it's called Levine's sign... If you ever feel like someone has made a fist and is pressing down hard on your sternum, go directly to hospital, do not pass go or stop for traffic lights. If you have, take and Aspirin on the way. Heart attack's no joke, worst pain I've ever been in and it lasted 24 hours +. The heart attack is one thing but you really don't want to take a chance with your blood pressure spiking and having a stroke for good measure... Dude, if the pain is still there, get in your car or have someone drive you right now!

He seems to be convincing himself that it was just pain and it will pass. Some men can be stubborn.
