About 30 minutes ago out of the blue I got this hectic chest pain that really hurts when breathing and is situated in the left spanning to my shoulder blade.

I have a slight cold so I have a minor cough, if I cough I want to die it hurts so much.

Doesn't sound like a heart attack or anything like that I hope, but what on earth causes this out of nowhere. I am in my office, so its not like I was throwing a frisby or playing sport.

It is really weird. Anyone ever had something like this?

...if the pain moves, goto hospital immediately. Everytime my dad had a heart attack his pain moved either from right shoulder to left or from left shoulder to left arm.

...He had something like 7 heart attacks....so ya....be careful

Thanks SteveO, I am keeping an eye on it. It hasn't moved thus far. Man this is bizzare.

Thanks, will read up on that.

Edit: Geez that's actually pretty hectic. Hope it aint that.

It could also just be a wind that is "stuck"

Drink some eno or something that'll make you burp. If the pain clears then it's wind. If not why the hell are you still posting & not at the doctor?

You shouldnt be posting threads if you have chest pain, Depending on your age, You should get it checked up asap.
Something that may seem small for now can turn into something hectic very quick!! dont take chance's get medic advise asap...

Keegan

Go see a doctor. I've had that as well, and the doctor said that one of the symptoms of an oncoming heart attack is when the pain spreads to your left arm. It may not necessarily be a heart problem, but it could still be something bad.

My doctor told me such pain + no heavy sweating = usually safe.
Apparently if it is heart-related you would be sweating profusely.

Still, don't take my word go see a doctor now.

Sounds like pleurisy, I had it in November/December last year...

But seriously, don't mess with chest pain... You could be hurting for a number of reasons, including a clot.

Go to a doctor now. Don't wait, just go. If it turns out to be pleurisy then shame, poor you. If it turns out to be something serious, then you probably just saved your own life.

Seeing as you have a cold, have you been coughing heavily ?

Had the same situation as the OP in regards to chest pain and doctor told me I had dislocated my spine between the shoulder blades from coughing.

Sent me to a chiropractor and after 1 treament, instant pain relief.

I suggest you see a doctor and get him to check it out, might be dislocation or something more serious. Its your health you messing with so don't take any chances.

Thanks for the replies.

The pain has subsided and is not as bad but still there. If I take a deep breath or cough it hurts like hell. Feels like I have pulled a muscle.

If it is not better by tomorrow I will see a doctor but my gut feel is it is nothing major.

No I haven't been coughing heavily, its a really mild cold. Mainly just a sore throat and occasional cough.

Sounds about right. I witnessed my mother having a heart attack. Was sweating profusely, lips went blew and in intense pain.

yeah wind can be incredibly painful. The symptoms can mimic a heart attack
