Sunette Bridges facebook hate speech case

what is a racially derogatory term for a white person? I'm asking because I honestly don't know.
Lungu, Boer, Whitey, honky, cracker...

There aren't any good ones. Then again a racial slur is only as good as the offense the recipients take from it. Whitey isn't very good at being offended by racial slurs.

honky and cracker is from the US. Boer - net nie dit nie. Whitey - wat. Lungu - no idea what this means.

That is true.

One race actually has to have authority and power over the other for the word to truly become something derogatory in meaning, otherwise it's just a word. People didn't just wake up one day and decide the word k.....r is derogatory, it became that way in meaning because of how it was used for hundreds of years by white oppressors towards blacks - ie, it was meant to be derogatory and 'put them in their place', it was a show of contempt. There are no real racial slurs against white people specifically because they haven't been systemically abused and exploited by other races for hundreds of years...

Well there are racial slurs against subtypes of whites. Maybe not "white per se". The word "paddy" is derogatory for example.

Not to get Midnight all up in this thread, but can you think of any racial slang term for blacks that is socially acceptable? I.e. a word that if a white character in a movie or on tv used it wouldn't automatically brand them bad or stupid? On the other hand can you think of a slang word for white that couldn't be justified if used by a good guy in a movie or on tv?

Nope.

And so many have tried to label the Whites :D

Rock-spider, Dutchman, Boer, Mlungu the list goes on and on. It just never catches on because we can't be arsed what we're called :D

Yes, that's why I said there are none against white people specifically but white people have also been subject to systematic abuse and exploitation - by other groups of white people. The Irish were also enslaved and exploited by the English which is why words like Paddy can be considered derogatory in Ireland. It was used for hundreds of years by English oppressors towards the Irish - ie, it was meant to be derogatory and 'put them in their place', it was a show of contempt.

It's a shame we seem to need names for different races in the first place, why not just "white" or "black"?.

I have noticed if I tell someone e.g. "I saw some guys beat up another guy in the parking lot yesterday, then (white) people always then need to know if the perps and the victim were black or white. If I say "black", then they sort of shrug "oh well" and are only interested if the victim was white.
Just sayin'. Us white people aren't exactly squeaky clean on the covert and overt racist front either.

I am with Vinette on this one. She conducts herself like a decent person at least. The racist slurs from this Sunette character are appalling.
