Super Rugby 2019

Was terrible..could hardly watch in 360..still buffering like a $&$&$# now with.eng vs wales
My decoders dead on channels 204-208. Wonder if the issues are related some how! Missed the England game and I believe it was an absolute cracker!!

There was a play towards the end where Marx was on his feet and over the ball for about 5 seconds. How this wasn't a penalty is shocking.
Yip, studio panel discussed it at length. Decided the outcome of the match pretty much!! Weak officiating all round...

Stormers vs Lions:
Urgh...what a terrible game to watch (and win :-/ )

I think the AR was more to blame for that Marx-thing, than Egon. (He couldn't see what was going on, from that angle. )
Have to ask yourself, what the hell the AR was doing though, just standing there and shlt.

I'll take the win -as unfair as it was- though.

Not too confident in the Stormers' ability this year.

Streaming was a waste of time. Buffering was unacceptable
Son was streaming from the US via VPN , no buffering , perfect picture. Being a Stormer supporter myself, as I was looking at Marx over the ball, I thought.... there goes the game. No debate on whether that should've been a penalty. Don't know what went wrong with this team,,, from the try-scoring Curry Cup rugby team to this crap... and we haven't even played an overseas team yet.. Too much politics these days... where's Dobson ?

Sunwolves could have won in Japan. See Silatolu Latu was cited and red carded by the commission in the 79th minute in a very kickable position. Also another possible Australian citing minutes earlier, also in a kickable position. Non which the referee penalised at the time of play or was called out by the assisting referee.

So I guess it is bad officiating rubbed all-over this weekend.

Just more of the same!!! Same old same old!!! Fck me!!!

Was good to see Van der Heever get a brace! Always liked that player! So much potential and talent but yet to fully exploit it.

I would like to know when he went to Japan because he signed up with Yamaha back in 2016, but the Top League season at that time started very late. 36 consecutive months and he may be eligible to represent Japan.

Who knows, he may soon team up with Wimpie van der Walt, Lappies Labuschagne and Grant Hattingh. Shane Gates has also been with NTT since 2016, but the Blossoms don’t need more centres. Fullbacks and wings, that is what they need.

It is sad the Sunwolves lost under these circumstances,

but I wonder whether the media will pick up on it as everyone loves to criticise the Sunwolves. Hayden Parker would have scored the 3 points.

So much for thinking the bullies were something special in beating the breezers last week .......

They obviously need a pathetic team to win a match, good job capitulating against the Jags
The breezers need their ex player ref to win matches

Seconds in the spotlight after 'poor' penalty miss
Cape Town - SuperSport pundit Nick Mallett has hit out at the officials in the Stormers v Lions Super Rugby clash at Newlands on Saturday.

Referee Egon Seconds made a series of decisions throughout the match which baffled both sides - and the reported 14 831 spectators who turned up - in a clash which dragged on - and on - to the 87th minute.

Referring to one particular incident late in the match, which, in Mallett's opinion had an impact on the outcome of the match, the former Springbok coach said post-match: ‘(Malcolm) Marx goes in and he has got a hand on the ball. Look at the positioning of (referee) Egon Seconds. He can’t see that, but the touch judge can see it. Why isn’t the assistant referee saying penalty to the Lions? Marx gets over the ball, everyone else is on the ground so he has a right to play the ball and he holds onto it for six seconds without earning a penalty.

‘There are two issues there. First of all, very poor positioning from Seconds. The Stormers get a penalty as opposed to the Lions. If the Lions get a penalty they clear and end the game in the Stormers’ half. The second thing is what is the assistant referee doing to assist the referee? It is bang in front of him. Why can’t he say penalty to the Lions?

‘It is just outside the 22. If the Lions get the penalty they deserve, a left-footed kicker would take it into the Stormers half. The time I think is about 77 minutes. The whole end of the game would have been different.

‘It is absolutely crucial that referees get those things right because for a Lions supporter it must be very, very difficult sitting and having to digest this loss, which they didn’t deserve.

The assistant referee, who was no more than a few metres away from the incident, was little-known Divan Uys.

Uys' fellow assistant referee, Aimee Barrett-Theron, was regularly used by Seconds to adjudicate at scrum-time in particular, suggesting penalties to the Stormers for 'hinging' and a 'knee on the ground' on at least two occasions.

Terrible refereeing weekend all round I felt. Including the assistants, because they seem to think they only need to lift and lower flags.

Jesus so even the useless AR was a one-eyed Capey  They def have their cake and eat it in CT

Lions had their opportunities which they never took. Apart from that one call, I don't think the Lions deserved it.

There were numerous incidents where the refs calls favoured the lions. High tackle on Etsebeth, guy with yellow card coming on early, yellow card on vermaak was harsh as he legally tackled the player from the front.

Fair result at the end with the Stormers winning.

Lions will struggle as they cannot beat a poor Stormers team with many injuries and politics happening in the background.

This is going to be WP rugby's downfall (-_-)

Agree with you there. Fleck is clearly out of he's depth and never took the Stormers to another level.

Give Treu or PDV a chance to see if they can take the Stormers to the next level

The Lions are going to struggle with Whiteley. It was clear to see that the wheels came off when he left the field. Elton too emotional to be a captain. Lions missing their leader corps of calmness.

Make no mistake, Egon was shocking. Both sets of supporters can provide lots of examples what he "missed". The sad part is that in 2019 with assistants and TMO blatant things are still being missed. The Supersport panel mentioned something year or so ago that these bad decisions can cost coaches and players there career. Yet no action, or shall I say, visible action is being taken.

As we saw last year with the calls on Owen Farrell's shoulder charges, the only action ever taken is is not unlike chastising a 3 year old. "That was wrong and you shouldn't have done that"

I am so fed up with our "nice" "god fearing coach...
FFS... The lions went from an awesome attacking team between 2015 and 2017 to a team that can only score tries with forwards...
I knew we had problem when Swys (after the loss to the Crusaders on Easter Sunday last year) stated that the loss doesn't matter because he has already won as a Christian because Jesus died on the cross for us...
Now he reckons after the match that he is really glad for Robbie Fleck, because they beat us?
Can some or other church somewhere not give this clown a Pastor position so that he can do what he loves and leave the Lions alone? Praying IS NOT GOING TO HELP THE LIONS BEAT ANYONE!!!!
I am sure Jimmy Stonehouse would just love to show his worth by coaching a Super Rugby team.
