Whiteley ruled out of Super Rugby for 6 - 8 weeks. From Supersport.com

The Emirates Lions breathed a sigh of relief on Monday night with the news that their inspirational captain Warren Whiteley’s injury will only keep him on the sidelines for between six and eight weeks.

Whiteley tore a pectoral muscle and it doesn’t seem he will require surgery of any sort, but only rehab for the injury and could be back sooner rather than later to lead his team again.

It is likely that either Elton Jantjies, who is the vice-captain, or Kwagga Smith, who also deputised during the team’s narrow loss to the Stormers on Saturday, will lead the team out against the Vodacom Bulls in their derby match this weekend.

It is likely that either Robert Kruger or Hacjivah Dayimani will replace Whiteley for the Bulls game.

Whiteley underwent a scan on Monday morning that didn’t reveal any damage, but an MRI later on in the day confirmed the torn left pectoral muscle.

If Whiteley was to have surgery it would have kept him out anywhere from three to six months.

The Lions are also set to welcome back injured Springbok scrumhalf Ross Cronje to the match day squad after a long time on the sidelines, but it is likely he will at most play a part on the reserve bench for this game.

Tolu Latu also copped a 6 week ban. Another 'unpenalised' incident by AJ Jacobs in the Sunwolves game. Latu didn't even bind, he dived straight with his shoulder into Ed Quirk's knee. Latu apologised to the Sunwolves. Quirk is receiving surgery and will receive 10 weeks rehab. There is video evidence, but wasn't broadcasted and won't be made available to be viewed by the public.

Two red card incidents which was let go by AJ Jacobs and assistants.

Sunwolves captain Craig Millar is also out, 12 weeks.

That was the Sunwolves game to win.

Not sure what you're complaining about. He's obviously aware of the controversy surrounding him this past weekend which means that in order to show that he's not bias, all the 50/50 calls are now going to go the way of the Sharks. #callingit

I also complain, but I am over the WPRU/Stormers ill-bureaucracy. Every union and franchise participating in SANZAAR (and Super Rugby) highlighted the issue with home referees for home games for years now. A conclusive rugby study in Europe also indicated this 'pro' bias in officiating.

Personally I don't blame Egon Seconds, but I blame the Stormers and SANZAAR for this oversight of last week. The referee appointment schedule is a conflict of interest, so why the appointment of Egon Seconds? I am sure that the Stormers went into the game, knowing that they have a home referee to their own advantage.

Okay, let us get over this by rectifying the referee appointment schedule. Uhm, yeah, the Sharks, and other members of the SA conference, has every reason to be unhappy with this. The bureaucracy is so bad that nobody is willing to acknowledge the issue, unless you want to burn a bridge.
 
Am I right in saying by early 3rd round 2019, Australian SR teams have more wins v NZ opposition than the entirety of 2017 and 2018 combined?

Everyone could still play each other once even in the current format.

It's somewhat ridiculous that more than half the teams qualify for the finals in this competition as it is.

Everyone could play everyone by getting rid of the double round derbies (there's the Currie Cup already), with no automatic qualification based on conference, but rather on log points as it should be.

The top 2 are automatic semi finalists, with 3-6 on the log effectively having a "quarter final" to see who goes on to face number 1 and 2.

This is going to stuff up everyone's Superbru for sure but if you take a hard and honest look at the Chiefs so far this season, you should be able to see it coming?? But we see Retallick and Damien and we think, 'nah, Wolves can't win this'. WRONG!!
 
Sunwolves are playing awesome rugby, completely stunned the chiefs so far
