90% of the time speed is good. Every so often speeds grind to a halt and resetting the modem normally sorts it out.

Modem : UTD
OS : Windows XP SP2

IRC Disconnects, MSN doesn't want to connect, speeds and ping is seriously lacking from when it did work, and the fact I can't p2p or ssh or vpn like I used to is costing me money. No, I am not an illegal DVD maker downloading and writing them to sell on the street, I am using this connection for BUSINESS.

During the day I'm in Woodmead, the connection is even poorer!

Your line speed is approximately 711.4 Kbps or 87.2 kBytes/sec

Everone else getting good speeds today?

From Telkom's site:
Estimated line speed: 396.3 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 48.6 (kiloBytes/second)

Not fantastic, but I can live with that, as long as it stays consistent.

Below is the data used to calculate your download speed:

* Download time: 5.406 seconds
* Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
* Estimated line speed: 754.7 (kilobits/second)
* Estimated line speed: 92.5 (kiloBytes/second)

Fine by me..

Location: PTA
Tower: Sunny Side
OS: Xp SP2
UTD / Lan 100% signal

Since early last week I've been having major issues. Msn messenger keeps disconnecting and it's the same with mirc and world of warcraft online. P2P does'nt budge.

but it shows that it can only be a bandwidth limitation to UUNET and not a network problem).

This is true.

Ping times are amazingly fast... you just can't receive any data at those speeds. There is a very noticeable lag on surfing, but if you ping any particular site it is very fast and consistent. The network is as healthy as can be.

I'm certain the lack of speed is from throttling. ie Bandwidth Management. And corrupt bandwidth management at that. I've only done 1.3GB this month. I just got a whopping 86kbps on the Telkom Test. For the past months I never got less then 1000kbps.

This truly stinks. :mad:

I used to get good speeds always, then good speeds at night but pathetic during the day for the past week, now just pathetic always:

* Download time: 48.349 seconds
* Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
* Estimated line speed: 84.4 (kilobits/second)
* Estimated line speed: 10.3 (kiloBytes/second)

BTW, I went over the first 1 GB of my monthly 3 GB this afternoon, but speed was slow even before that so I'm not throttled for exceeding 1 GB... :mad:

Just mailed WBS (once again...) about this

Download time: 6.36 seconds
Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
Estimated line speed: 641.5 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 78.6 (kiloBytes/second)

Download time: 23.77 seconds
Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
Estimated line speed: 171.6 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 21 (kiloBytes/second)

Well, it doesn't seem to be getting any better, does it?
:(
