Thread necro!
Opened my pool and found a bit of a horror! Thought I could fix it but three weeks later - may need to admit defeat.
it looks like the marblelite in my 10.5m x 6.5m has given up the ghost. The top portion of the pool which was acid washed when coping and surrounds were renovated a few years ago, now have ingrained algae stains that won't come out.
Just replaced the sand in the filter as it was finished and stinking. The guys from Pool team did the work and checked everything else. The guy says best option is to paint with Fibreglass instead of redoing marblelite? He also recommended that it is cheaper to just dump and get new water as the bladders are too expensive to rent and it's like a 7 day job to do the fibreglass, etc.
So i still don't know what the prices would be - waiting for a quote. But I know water is going to cost me about R6-7K (if there are no penalties for about 120KL).
Thinking Fibreglass paint would be great (if I understood the guy properly) as it would reduce algae in the future and make it easier to maintain. Need to do more research on the EPOXY.
To those who participated in this thread, how are your pools holding up after a few more years since your renovations.
