Switching from Android to Apple - What made you switch?

I had to upgrade my laptop in 2014 and opted for a 13" Macbook Pro. I travelled a lot and forced myself not to get yet another back breaking overweight gaming laptop, that I never used for gaming.

6 months later my Samsung Galaxy S4 I think, started giving charging issues so bought an iPhone 5s to match my Macbook.

Been using Apple ever since.

To be fair, I think it would be much easier for me switch back to Android if I had to than switching back to Windows (I'd rather go Linux).

I switched because of Discovery's "free" phone and watch. I'm now in month 3 of 24 months of slavery.... but so far so good.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 made me switch. It, and the local Samsung support was a real

Admittedly, the walled garden feels a bit small at times, but actually I've had very little issues.
Bought into the landscape (watch, phones, ipads, apple tv, icloud, Apple Music, apple tv+ subs, family sharing across apps / icloud / tv+, facetime), and it seems to work quite well.

I'm trusting Apple as a spy more than Samsung ‍
Cost of hardware has become a bit of an issue over time though.

Non Windows 11 ready laptop dual boots Linux (Kubuntu) / Windows, with a rarely used virtual iMac in Virtual Box.
I prefer KDE Plasma (Feels Windows 10-ish) to Gnome (feels MacOS-ish)

i really did give it a hard try this year to ditch apple, got a s23 ultra, and i just couldnt get into it, certain actions would just constantly bring up the samsung crapware, even apple music on the android, was actually better than apple music on an iphone

that said, im not totally against trying again, i would love to try with a pixel, i believe , is the most "stock" android you can get IE, no crapware from any manufacturer?

I used to like Xiaomi Apps. But then the ads became insane.

Basically Wi-Fi Direct but yeah. I love it & find it useful af.
 
They finally gave me what I wanted. Better battery life. Since the A15 Bionic they really focused on efficiency and even with the small battery in the SE 2022 I still get 6h SOT. Dual sim. It’s esim but that’s fine so long I can have two numbers. App library. Android had it since 2008 and the iPhone finally got it in 2020.
