Sydney today hit a record 45.8...since records kept anyway. In the western suburbs it hit 46.5.

last Tuesday we hit 43 deg when the country experienced its second highest average maximum of 40.2 (the highest of 40.3 a few days earlier).
Last year we had record rains, with our dams overflowing in March.

I think in the USA 47 states had the highest average ever temp across the year last year.

10 of the highest global averages have I believe come in the last 12 or 13 years.

I wonder if people still deny Global warming

Gotta go jump in the pool now, 6:30pm and still 36 out in the west

Have you seen the amount of countries with records low, -30 in russia, china, middle east.

So it would be interesting to see whether globally the planet is warming or cooling, europe is always pretty cold. Globally i am not convinced there is global warming, climate change yes but i would need to research to see if globally the planet is warming or cooling.

Global warming to me sounds like crap when you see records lows in china, russia middle east, US etc. The planet is changing rapidly, volcano's are going crazy, thousands of tiny earth quakes daily. The extreme weather is becoming very bad and it seems to have happened in a short space of time, a couple years perhaps less.

Tomorrow in 2 weeks I am flying to Denmark for 1month. And no, I am not looking forward to the trip (at least not this time around). My brother said they are expecting very cold weather WTF

It was also the 36thconsecutive year (since 1976) when average global temperature was above the 20th century average. Currently, the warmest year on record is 2010. Additionally, last week the US National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) released their latest climate report from 2012 and found that it was the warmest year ever recorded in the contiguous United States. The average temperature for the contiguous United States for 2012 was 13 degrees C (55.3 degrees F) which was 3.2°F above the 20th century average.

Still doubting a warming cycle?

Easy to remember record lows somewhere on earth, but the average temperatures over a year don't tell a lie.
 
I am not doubting a warming cycle but the predictions are that we will be going into a cooling cycle this year and extreme weather will be the order of the day, be it heat or cold.

Some countries have record temps for both hot and cold. So i don't know what cycle we are in but follow the weather dude, when i get a moment i will show you how many countries are struggling with some of the worst snow and cold temps in decades. The focus is always on heatwaves but the huge snow storms sweeping countries don't attract much attention.

Interesting to read what everyone is predicting, some say we are in a heat cycle, others say we are moving into a cooling cycle. So i have no idea but obviously certain regions will get hot while other regions will get cold and at the moment both hot and cold are extremes and not normal for the most part.

I don't think anyone can say with certainty what is going to happen but i am not sure we are moving into a heat or cooling cycle, we are in both depending where you live :D.

A Chinese scientist declared that Dinosaurs wiped themselves out with their own methane emissions.

I like Killadoob's idea - the earth goes through cycles - hot and cold. Whether these cycles are affected by events on earth itself i.e. Dinosaurs farting holes into the ozone, or man burning exhaust holes into the ozone, is another issue. Maybe we're just compounding a pre-existing condition.

In my opinion the dinosaurs were taken out by a big event, something hit earth or volcanic activity got so bad that 10-40 exploded in a small time frame. We are seeing more and more volcanic activity at the moment, it's getting pretty bad and it seems like globally volcano's are waking up and we could see what perhaps nailed the dinosaurs within the next couple years but that is just another story i read and seeing how many volcano's are currently being watched by some very worried people on stand by monitoring the closely.

Something is shifting the climate and shifting it rapidly, could be humans, could be the sun activity could be the volcanic activity, we just don't know with any certainty sadly.

Yes, but the last 36 years have been hotter than the 20th century average, the last 14 years include the 10 hottest years in 132 years, last year was the 9th warmest ever, last year was the warmest in USA...averages throughout the year not killadoob's version of what is happenning in the middle of winter somewhere..

...so what cycle are we in? We are coming out of la nina which has actually 'cooled' and wetted the last few years otherwise 2012 would have been higher than 9th...now going back into el nino so higher temps, drier, more 'events' such as cyclones etc.

Also, human (and animal acivity over which we have control eg meat eating = cows etc) do not create holes in ozone and that is not the cause of warming. CO2 creates an insulating blanket , methane even more effective and that traps the heat. It is dead easy to correlate the warming effect with industrial activity without a doubt...it is even now possible to backdate the temperatures many,many years through fossil analysis that indicates the type of photosynthesis (which changes at different temps) via isotope ratio analysis...we can also measure CO2 content of water that has frozen in layers...we can tell how it has had an effect in the past and therefore extrapolate how it will influence the future etc

This is the first time mankind has had control over this , so it is irrelevant what the dinosaurs did or what the cycles were.

I think the time for sceptism on this has long passed.
 
Explain to us how the skepticism has long passed when nasa are predicting a cooling for earth? That goes against everything you believe.

Yup, as predicted. Extreme climate all over the place. Only the mentally sick still deny it. We even have some of those on our forum :eek:
