Synced but no internet?

I seem to be having the same issue in Cape Town, been without internet since Sunday night.
Had Telkom reset the ports, I've reset the router and factory-reset the router, tried different accounts and still no luck.
Router logs say that it's syncing and it detects the PPP server, but then can't authenticate, "PPP Error: 2 no such file or directory".

Telkom said they have logged a fault with my line/exchange......hope it doesn't take for ever to fix.

I am having the exact same issue. Internet went down on Friday night. Tried 2 different ISP's, different capped and uncapped packages, 2 different routers. I managed to connect again on Sunday evening for 10mins before it died.

Again line syncs fine, but unable to authenticate with ISP.

My line is Afrihost. Logged a fault on Saturday, but no update from Telkom yet. This is very annoying as Elder Scrolls Online just released on Friday, and other then a little bit of Early Access game time, I haven't been able to play since.

This seems to be a widespread problem, could we get a response from the reps mentioned(@Afriman for me) please and especially from @TelkomZA...

Have the same issues on occasion.

I normally resolve this by getting telkom to reset the port and/or changing the sync speed (temporarily) and then moving the sync speeds back to what it was (which causes a port reset I believe).

Try switching your routers off for 10 minutes and then switch it back on :)

Been there done that - a few times :D Even tried different modems (to change MAC addresses). The only way I could ever get over this, was to involve telkom and reset the port.

Mine and a client's is doing the same. Mine's been dead since Friday, can Sync but no account will connect. Client's connects and disconnects frequently while sync remains rock solid

ISP? I forgot :D

Telkom Guest/Afrihost/Incredible Connection/FNB choose your pick

My router is identifying the issue as timing out waiting for PAD0 packet so it's before a PPPoE connection can be established

Hmm... What are your VPI/VCI settings on your router?

+1

It's almost as if the exchange caches your AAA information, and the moment you use different AAA settings, it just completely ignores you. In my case at least. I've had this happen on my line before by just changing between PAP and CHAP authentication. Granted, this doesn't happen often, but I also hardly ever make changes to my DSL config.

Also using 8/35, Cisco 3800 with HWIC-1ADSL.

Here's a connection session log for the last few days on the afrihost account, the router gets a connection at random with almost 0 traffic (pretty hard to believe, all my machines/servers at home try reporting back the moment a connection is established)

Last session with any actual traffic indicated in bold

Sorry man. Just wanting to make sure. Best bet would be to contact local telkom office (don't know if youve tried it). Also, are your neighbours experiencing the same thing? Or is it localised?

Z :)

These folks don't even use landlines, let alone adsl

Hahaha, shame :D I don't know what advice to provide, im stumped :P

Indeed, the only solution i've ever had in the past is the port being changed physically at the exchange, but it's a lot of hoops to jump before 1st line support will even consider it

Mine got fixed yesterday, running for 24h now no DC's.
Tech wasn't very specific about what was wrong he just said "problem at the DSLAM".

Good luck guys, hope it gets sorted soon.

Going over a month of the same issue now. Telkom has closed the fault 4 times now without consulting me. Reported it to Afrihost about 10 times and they just escalate it (is any fault reported NOT escalated?) with Telkom and nothing gets done.
