After owning one since end December I have to say this is a must have.

I have many devices and each has it's unique use: laptop for work, desktop pc for games, low power pc for downloads, smart phone for you know, tablet for on the couch and in bed. My PS3 and DSTV are off and gathering dust though.

I have been trying to justify buying an iPad, useful thread. How are the data deals on it or you most use wifi

I took the R99.00 for 1GB from Vodacom - as well as a Vodafone R201 mifi modem that creates a hotspot with my 10GB 8ta if I need. So at home I use the 8ta and while out, I use the Vodacom for browsing. The last few days, I've taken the mifi with me, as it's quite small with a battery.

Note though - the iPad needs wifi. 3G is useful for browsing, but 3G is pretty useless for anything with the locks Apple put in place

Must have - Nope, especially at the current price.
I would gladly pay 3k for new one but R4500 is just too much when you look at base models with only wifi.

Use mine for:

Reading Magazines
Surfing
All my manuals and ebooks are close at hand
Connecting to Work via vnc or teamviewer is a cinch.
Playing the odd game.

The Flyer is alright, I don't really rate Android on a tablet. I reckon a 2nd hand iPad would be a much better bet. Bigger screen, better performance, better apps.

I'm still using the ipad 1 and it does everything I need. Bought on Gumtree last year.

I was one of those that never saw the point, got an iPad for design work and am surprised how quickly it has replaced my iphone and laptop for everyday use, my PC and laptop are now mainly for work, movies and gaming.
