Typing on it now but yeah the onscreen keyboard is tedious. Takes 3 x longer to type stuff on here vs keyboard. Considering the wireless keyboard but at R800 I must be certain I'm going to use it.

When I'm not lazy enough, I use Wifi Keyboard with my Flyer.

Why the hell does your iPad have that oooold school font? Wtf?

I can't live without my iPad.

I use it every single morning, it has replaced my newspaper, I can also check my mail and browse at the same time.

It comes with me to every meeting, I swear by sound note.

It comes with me on every trip, read my book in the plane, read magazines etc.

It's not a want anymore, it's become a need.
 
I couldn't justify spending R6000 on an iPad but at R4800 through FNB, i could not say no. As a lecturer, I find it invaluable for presentations, meetings, all my newspapers and magazines. Every other day, I find a new use for it.
 
I was given an iPad last week as a gift for work! :D

It's already becoming an extension of my arm...

I think it depends on what you would use it for.
In my case, reading books and manuals is the main application, but it's also great being able to surf from anywhere! And it complements iPhoto nicely.

Just a pity that the iPad is so locked down. Android is going to dominate iOS, for this very reason! Seriously, which other OS with Bluetooth can't send and receive files?
My Sgs2 owns the iPad in almost every way, excluding the screen size and speaker.

Also looking for an ebook reader with 8+ hour battery life. My only concern is the impact on my eyes. With my HTC desire hd my eyes soon start to hurt looking at the screen for long periods at a time.

Also what I love about the tablet + XBMC combo is if you browse a website and see a YouTube clip on some site that you want to watch, all you have to do is click on the link and select XBMC instead of YouTube and the clip will play on the TV instead.

I love the fact that I can have Magazines without the need to leave my house, its on my device ready for reading, sometimes even before printed editions hit the shelves.

News papers, who needs em with applications like Google Currents, I get my news ready and waiting with all media downloaded so I don't even need an active internet connection to read them, or just unwind reading MyBB while in front of the TV

But at the end of the day I use the ASUS Eee Transforemer as my Netbook that can convert to a tablet when needed, seeing that it runs Linux. Simply put, I just think of it as a Netbook with Android instead of Unity as the GUI, and with proper Mouse and Keyboard support i can use it to remote my office systems or when I do loads of typing like this post ;)

I only use mine for communication from home. So I don't need to unpack the work's laptop.

But I don't want to take my personal iPad to work. So it stays at home.
 
Well if you 'must' have a device to take around with you then a tablet is ideal. If you can only really justify owning something that brings in money, then you must stick to a PC or a notebook. If you want to do more casual activities, then nothing is better form than a tablet. We have an iPad2 which I use, and a Kindle Fire which the wife uses, and they both get hours of use EVERY DAY.

1) Reading every kind of media - which the e-ink readers just can't do adequately. I mean PDFs, regular ePubs/mobi, RSS feeds, online magazine articles, textbooks, Bibles with annotations and footnotes and so forth and children's illustrated/animated books. I have 6 or 7 different reading apps and I use them all in different ways.
2) Streaming video or just watching video in general.
3) Kids' apps. Dora, Pooh, puzzles, Kumon, the works. They flippin love it
4) Casual gaming - PopCap, Tiny Wings, Jetpack Joyride, Cut the Rope, Where's My Water, Sprinkle
5) Hardcore gaming - Great Little War Game, Dead Space, GTAIII, Infinity Blade 2, Superbrothers
6) Coding (well here is where a netbook would be better but you can get by)
7) Recipes and cooking help - Epicurious (sitting the iPad on the counter and using it as a guide is fantastic)
8) Productivity - Evernote, Dropbox, Numbers, Tapfolio

etc etc. There is a TON that you can do with a tablet.
 
Very interesting reading what people use their tablets for many more uses for them than i thought .i have certainly learned a lot from the different posts here thank you .May be i will buy one i love gadgets .
 
So far use the Galaxy Tab for movies, radio, browsing, some light gaming I normally use it in place of my laptop, especially when the keyboard accessory is plugged in, then it pretty much turns into a netbook.
 
I have been trying to justify buying an iPad, useful thread. How are the data deals on it or you most use wifi
