That headline reminds me of this guy:

Competition keeps prices lower. A merger is only in their best interests.

Used Kalahari once, delivery for an in stock item took 3 weeks

Used Takealot a couple of times - delivery has never taken more than two days since the order was placed. If that disappears then I won't be supporting them any time soon

ai... with naspers holding 41% its down hill all the way... done 209 orders with takealot. guess i'll have to find a new place to shop...

Used Kalahari two weeks ago, delivery was 3 days early. Takealot once delivered a package a day late.

So what now?

First impressions I guess, tbh they've also always delivered way earlier than the promised date, and I've only ever ordered items in Stock with both companies

I thought profit was top priority or else it isn't a company?

I don't see why Takealot "needs" this merger, for us consumers having the two largest SA online retailers compete with one another is best.

That has been my experience as well: Kalahari didn't bother replying to "what has happened to my order" emails and used Fedex which appeared to be the culprit for delivering parcels many days later. So far Takealot has always under-promised and over-delivered (earlier than promised).

Fedex always delivers before the time estimated and they do next day delivery to PMB, so they are quite good in my area so don't blame Fedex for Kalahari's problems :).

I'm not in Pietermaritzburg, I am in Johannesburg and within a "main centre", I cannot remember a single time that Fedex has delivered on time.

As for Kalahari, my experience is that Kalahari's main Achilles Heel is customer support followed by a website that is unreliable (at least the last time that I tried using it and gave up trying to checkout).

You sure it is not Kalahari at fault as I use Takealot.com?

I've used both sites, usually just buying from whoever had the cheaper price for what I was looking for and never had an issue with service. This is from someone living in pe. Non of this fancy same day delivery.

Kalahari has always been cheaper when I compared items.

I am a regular buyer from both sites and I also never experienced any issues with any of them. I think by now they know that delivery times are crucial for their business to survive. Unfortunately, those are in the hands of courier companies and you can't always blame Takelot/Kalahari for that.

still waiting for email from takealot..................

Both companies service is poor compared to the likes of Amazon...Have had Amazon follow up with me when said courier company failed to deliver on time, ect Never had so much as a followup email from either kalahari or takealot and they have missed delivery dates many more times then amazon.

I hope the merger will not result in poor service delivery...I used Takealot for my external hard drive and they delivered it to me the next day, after payment was confirmed :)
