So, what does it cost? Well, Tata has announced that the local Curvv portfolio comprises 3 derivatives at launch. The line-up kicks off with the Curvv 1.2T Pure+ 6MT, priced at R349 900.
Next comes the Curvv 1.2T Creative 7DCT for R419 900, with the Curvv 1.2T Accomplished S 7DCT completing the range at R519 900. While the base variant comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the mid-tier and top-spec derivatives each feature a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Verdict
Broadly speaking, I like that Tata’s reintroduction into the South African market includes both bold (Motus-backed) plans for capturing “up to 8% of the local passenger-car market”, but also that, like compatriot brand Mahindra, this proudly Indian manufacturer’s modern product portfolio includes ground-up designs, technology and thinking.
The appeal of the Tiago, especially in XT trim, lies in a compelling standard specification list that includes modern safety systems, its roomy interior (including 242 litres of luggage space) and a powertrain that allows for admirable performance and corresponding efficiency, especially at altitude.

And worse passive safety. Tiago and Punch has only 2 airbags across the range. Product planning clowns at Tata SA can’t see their a$$ from their elbow it seems. Mahindra knocks them into the weeds.
