TCL TVs

Have to admit, there’s little dirty screen effect on the TCL, better manufacturing and quality control?

The Hisense was all over, comparing the two now.

Found 1 dead pixel on the TCL, had to really search for it upfront and close, it’s not a group of them, its a single little pixel.

Hisense, well, could be its age, found a group of them and now I can’t unsee it. Luckily it’s now the room TV, the wife doesn’t see it.

Have my apple tv connected as my main driver
But, i have to admit, google tv does perform pretty well, if my apple tv went meh tonight, google tv will serve me well. Snappy, great feel. It’s an amazing part of the TV

Is the 1st time i've actually used the TV OS & not rather used everything via a sheild, also impressed

Well coming from Hisense

I never received an update since I bought my Hisense, TCL had one ready when I turned on the TV, following an international forum, seems like they update their firmware quite a bit if there is any bug related faults. I like that.

On a strange note;

Family member, on the wife’s side, bought a 85” as well, samsung D7000 (Something down these lines)
Told me how can I waste my money on a no name Chinese brand… This is after they saw the picture quality “ It looks great but for how long haha”

Apparently I had to save R3000 and buy the TV he bought.

Also a 36 month warranty versus Samsung + LG 24 month warranty.
After being burnt by LG i also took the in-store option as well which adds an extra year.

TCL most probably manufactured the panel for his Samsung TV.

Are these Ambient LED strips worth it to immerse the TV’s feel even more?
Does anyone have it and what’s your take and feel

@TStringList - What does your serial number start with, 23 or 24? Its located right above the power source at the back of the TV

It seems SA has two models, 2023 and 2024, the 2024 has an improved chipset, better dimming control et c.

Mine starts with 24 so I guess it's the newer model. The chipset seems pretty good as I haven't noticed any lag when navigating through any of the apps.

Indeed
24 as well on mine
It has the latest chipset in that does quite a good job if I review other forums
Bunch of complaints on the 2023 model and older chipset

The c755 you’re referring isn’t the same model
C755 is the new EU/AUS/SA model number. It’s USA model would be QM7, and UK C805

It’s a 2023/2024 model, it also seems to be an slightly upgraded from the bad boy 845.

I came from a Hisense, wont be going back after my purchase :)
Yeah but it's still the c755 they've had since 2023 so it can't be a 2024 model (I get it's the 2024 version of the 2023 model)? We don't get the C855 in 85" which has more local dimming zones and nits and only came out in 2024?

They get it in Aus https://www.tcl.com/au/en/tvs/85c855. While we get stuck with the 65" only https://www.tcl.com/southafrica/en/tvs/c855. We don't have a comparable 85" here which is sad.

Oh and also won't be buying Hisense again lol

As stated there are two year models, that seem to be exactly the same except for the chipset, when you get a gap send an image of your About section and the firmware model, curious to see if this is true.

If true, not quite sure what the chipset offers extra

If TCL can keep their pricing, they'll start hurting Hisense locally, which has a rather great footprint in South Africa. I had the chance to see the new U7N in person, and owning the C755 to compare it to, I can happily say I'm chuffed with my purchase
