Ted Lassoes the Sun!

Today was a first good day after install last week. (17kWh generated)
10.2kWh batteries went from 40% to 100% by 11:30.
After that I lined up two washing machine cycles, dishwasher, pool pump and ironing (just from panels).
At some stage first 3 were working at the same time but there was lots of waste without any load.

Also I reduced water heater to run from 05:00 to 06:00 up to 45 degrees since it was chowing 6kWh (eskom) during two hours in the morning.
 
I think after next week, I will be able to turn off my early morning bathroom geyser boost automation. That should save some Eskom units. The wife also wants to put the electric blankets away (she wants them on all night) that's gonna help too and hopefully the heater in our room too to change the kids clothes

Looks like my 4.3kWp array maxes out at about 21kWh generation a day. But that is all used, so can't complain.

Today is gonna be a crap day.

Yesterday was a good day, morning usage was 2.1kWh as I said earlier and total Eskom usage was 3.2kWh for the day.
Batteries were full by 11:05 and I was struggling to find usage. At the end I started geyser just to heat water.

Warm night and maybe extra hot water did not trigger geyser this morning, with batteries being 45% full at 06:30.
Sun started earlier and with batteries there was no Eskom usage for morning microwave and coffee machine.

Result is that today I might not use any Eskom power to supplement my system!!!!!

Whole install is in my pantry, that was closest to db and out of the way.
Just did a check and only 0.7kWh used from Eskom and batteries are 100%

What direction is that roof facing? This image seems early afternoon and there is significant shading

Honestly I do not know, will ask installer. Pantry is like in the middle so temperature is pretty constant shame that I do not drink beer.

It is facing east and it is at 10:00. after that it clears. Will check tomorrow.
That was the reason I did not put more panels there.

What about the other side of the roof, for an east/west installation?

Ah ok. Then the shadow movement makes sense.

Very nice. Looks like the left side sunsynk does have clearance for the fans to suck in air right? I guess just make sure you dust there often enough.

Is it optics or is the battery on the right significantly larger than the one below the inverter?

Easy way to test it is to simulate a grid outage (switch off the grid mains), and then hit the earth leakage test button. If it trips, you are good. If not, your home's occupants are not safe.

I was not sure if there was prescribed distance around it but seems enough.
Yes it is optics they are the same size.
 
Hi everyone,

This is an appreciation post as I'm a lurker, just reading everyone's posts and advice.
Today is one week after the installation, and a big thank you to @RonSwanson for assisting me with questions to ask and ensuring the quality of panels to install, etc.

I've gone with 14 X Canadian Solar 455W Super High Power Mono PERC HiKU with MC4-EVO2
Sunsynk 5K inverter
BSL Bulls Battery 6.4Kwh 125ah
