Hi guys, not sure if I'm posting in the correct forum. I had signed up for the Telkom 3 month free internet. Just wondering, how do I check how many gigs have been used? Don't want to be hit with a heavy bill at the end of the month.

Not cool posting twice the same topic :p.

Please merge this with the other one MODS, OPs question already covered here

I took Telkom up on their offer and must say, the service I received was fantastic!

I signed up two months ago. Got a call from telkom on Thursday to inform me that they are going to install the modem this coming Wednesday. I'm hoping for the best.

Sent from my Milestone using MyBroadband Android App

I have also Signed up with that 3 month telkom - saving on telephone and adsl installtions + free wifi modem even if it is only a 10/100 and the service was fantastic , while I was at the telkom store they gave me a date only 4days to wait for installtion :D - as far as usage I logged in on their usage tracking page and it keeps showing me 0.0 used :O

Applied on the 14th. Installed on the 26th. Haven't used it yet because I don't have a phone and they haven't activated my Internet. Will activate the internet on Monday.

+1 - Took 3 working days for them to install from date of order.

I accepted Telkom's offer to upgrade from 1GB to 4GB at a cost of R99.00 per month. Well, since last week Tuesday 3 Technicians were unable to do the upgrading; instead I was without internet access for two days because my username as well as my password was deleted, yet they kept on telling me that "there was a fault on my line". WHO can I speak to at Telkom that will be able to do the upgrading WITHOUT messing-up everything for me?

Mine is activated and working now. Is there anyway to set a limit so that you don't exceed your 5Gb? Also is there a way to prevent torrent downloads?

There is a limitation at present, in that accounts couldn't be upgraded, caused by a number of legacy design decisions (from, like, 8 years ago).

One of those design decisions has been solved recently. The next one will take some time to resolve.

So, unfortunately, it will still be a while before this is possible (usual problem of sales people wanting to sell new stuff asap, but not worrying about letting techies fix problems from previous 'asap' implementations).

As far as I know, your best option in future would be to:
-Ask for a new 4GB account on your existing telephone account
-When the new account works, cancel your old account

You would pay a little bit extra (pro-rata for the period both are active), but at least you wouldn't be without connectivity.

I just got horribly incorrectly billed for my first month of free internet.

R819.50

Guess I gotta go in and dispute this. Fun Fun.

Is it at all possible to use your local bandwidth before your blended has finished? My searching has resulted with no positives.
