Telkom 40Mbps DSL network may get vectoring

I do not see why not add this vectoring tech, of course there will be a need for faster broadband technology.

Im happy with the 40mbps, i really hope it will be priced around the price of 10mbps.

Did not know about this. Thanks.

My new thing to learn for the day. :)

" Phantom Mode, currently in research, takes advantage of our advances in both VDSL2 Vectoring and VDSL2 Bonding. Phantom Mode creates a third virtual pair on top of the two physical pairs. VDSL2 Vectoring cancels the noise between the physical and virtual pairs. VDSL2 Bonding combines the two physical pairs and the virtual pair into a single large “pipe”. Phantom Mode tests have taken copper up to speeds of 300 Mbps on 2 physical pairs and more than 900 Mbps on 4 physical pairs."

"with VDSL vectoring, copper has new value"

FFS don't tell the thieves.

Telkom said:
Telkom added that they will use vectoring to boost DSL speeds in future if there is a need for data speed applications above 40Mpbs.
I think it's more like WHEN and not IF.

Yet another short sighted statement from Telkom... " if there is a need for data speed applications above 40Mbps"... while the rest of the world is rolling out FTTx with speeds of 100Mbps+, Telkom thinks SA will be content with 40mbps!

Telkom is simply backwards!

FRikkin awesome!!! I wonder what the range for these speeds would be and the cable quality required..

Why don't Telkom just do it from the start? then they don't have to come back and do the process all over in 10 years to up our speeds?

:erm: #shakes head

Because then they can come and sell it to you next year at an inflated price as a new product.

Vectoring? VDSL?

Means nothing for the large percentage of Telkom customers who cannot even get 4mbps yet due to Telkom not maintaining it's copper.

Ok so 0.1 % will have access to 40+ speeds in maybe 3-5 years from now and the rest will get it in another 10 years. I can't wait!
