Telkom 4MB Uncapped price drop?

This week. It's still ridiculously high though (and restricted in certain hours).

Come to think of it, just add "is ridiculous" to the end of any Telkom sentence and it suddenly makes sense.

Telkom support...
Telkom sync rate...
Telkom ADSL...

etc.
 
AFAIK this is a new residential uncapped account, previously they only offered 4Mbps business uncapped for around two grand a month.

Apparently their 1MB account is also restricted :p Someone should tell Telkom :)

It's only restricted if there are contention issues in a pool of users. I have yet to be throttled or shaped on my uncapped account. It just simply flippen flies!

Speed Restrictions
6am - 6pm: up to 650 Kbps
6pm - 10pm: up to 1 Mbps
10pm - 6am: up to 4 Mbps

As I said the 4Mbps residential uncapped is a new account offering so we'll have to wait for feedback from users.

Never been throttled on 1Mbps uncapped, waiting to wee what happens in August when it's upgraded to 2Mbps.

Telkom uncapped is the only uncapped I haven't had issues with, it just works, went through Afrihost --> MWEB --> Openweb Gold --> Telkom Uncapped...

Well, this is actually the introduction of a non-business 4 Mbps uncapped product (the one listed previously was actually the business product, which has no throttling, it performs just like a capped account unless you abuse *very* heavily).

As far as I know, this product has not actually been launched yet, it will be launched soon (within the month).

Also, note that until now there were no Uncapped Do Bundles (e.g. like "Do 2", "Do Basic" etc.), but I think some are in the works, which will result in a cheaper total package. As far as I know, existing "Do Basic" and "Do Advanced" customers will automatically get the discount, as long as they have the appropriate line and it is with Telkom (and not an ISP).
