Telkom ADSL pricing structure slated

What is stopping Neotel to put in their own last-mile? Nothing except cost. They do not think they can do it cheaper than they will be able to get it with LLU.

Telkom did the vast majority of the copper network rollout years ago when copper cost a fraction of what it does today, and at rate of copper theft in SA, they will be fighting a losing battle, it's alot more difficult to steal a radio comms tower... I'd say the ultimate solution is fibre to the premise... not much use stealing that...

:)

I think my broadband should write an article that compares RSA to Japan and what difficulties we have that Japan doesn't and vice versa. I think allot of people are not aware of the challanges Telkom faces and then we just compare them to a country like Japan and Telkom looks really bad. But if we know all the factors of why our broadband is so expensive we might be more understanding about the prices and then we can focus on how to get that cost down.

Because all we do now is blaming, and we don't add anything constructive as anything we put to the table will be an uninformed suggestion.

Japan got nuked twice. Recovered, and last few decades been doing well.
I don't hear them blaming of the past or the west.
*grabs flame-suit*

That implies the thieves that steal know better...please, even though they wouldn't steal the fibre, they'd certainly do damage to it in stealing other things.

I agree with you! Theft down, vandalism up.
