Telkom said that its upgrade of 1Mbps clients to 2Mbps will continue as there are still some regions where these upgrades have to be concluded.

“This is due to numerous end subscriber modems being switched off and subsequently could not be upgraded and synced on the new profiles,” Telkom said.

I am still waiting my line's upgrade from 384kbps to 1024kbps. However in the light of the foregoing it appears that my Mweb router should be switched on from 8 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon. So if your router is switched off you get no upgrade? Can anyone confirm this please.

They are very busy so I could not get through. However, the MwebGuy on Twitter says that as far as he knows, my router does not have to be on for Telkom to do the line speed upgrade.

They have to perform a line test. If your router is off they will move your upgrade to a later date.
