Hi Good day.
I cannot even compare how I feel about telkom to anything iv ever felt before. I cannot have stable internet for a week. When i am busy paying people online my internet line dies, if it doesn't die I cannot send emails because of how slow the internet is. My router continuously turns itself off when I am doing things online that are relatively important. Whenever I phone Telkom to ask them to resolve the issue they always tell me its because im too far from the exchange (impossible because when technicians were here they tested the line and said there is no problem with the distance).
This is my first post, so I do apologize if ive made mistakes in this thread.
How do I fix the problem if my internet router keeps disconnecting and reconnecting? Please help.!!!
Thank you.

I have logged into the router and have been searching high and low for the "line stats" but cannot seem to find it.

Two problems:

Downstream noise safety coefficient(SNR) (dB) 6

and

ADSL_G.dmt.bis

Make sure its on auto and try disable ADSL_G.dmt.bis

Can I change this myself? Or must i phone telkom to change it for me?

Check under your ADSL settings, I know on the Dlinks its under the advance tab. GMT goes up only to 4mb i think but is a lot more stable if you are having trouble with line flaps.

What speed is your line supposed to be?

Under my Basic -> DSL i have "All" checked.

I have found GMT to be more stable than ADSL2 and as its only 4 megs it should be fine. I played around with mine until I found a set of check boxes that were stable.

Haveyou asked telkom to recreate your port on 4meg for you? And if it starts flapping after they put it to 4 meg start logging calls, I am on a month and counting to get mine fixed.... I get 2megs on a good day...
