Hi! I have a 3GB account which has been upgraded to a 5GB account. For the past 3 months I've noticed that I'm being capped at 3GB's instead of the allocated 5GB's.

If I purchase a Top Up of 1GB it barely lasts me a night, when it previously last me a week at the most.

I'm not downloading at all. I'm browsing the same sites I've always done. MyBroadband, Facebook & playing the occassional COD4 game.

I could do all of the above on a 1GB account & have it last just over a week. Now I'm lucky if I get a days useage.

I've also noticed that when I go through my monthly Bandwidth Audit, the useage does not add up.

I've tried explaining this to Telkom, but they insist theres nothing wrong.

Short of cancelling Telkom as my ISP, is there ANYTHING else I can do to deter this?

Have you changed all your passwords - on your router and internet account?

Have you considered that someone else may be using your account?

Yup the thoughts crossed my mind. I'm just not sure how to prevent that.

I've spoken to a a chap at Telkom about it & he insists that, thats impossible.

You most probably also do not have a an old 3G account in their system but one of the lesser ones. What are you paying as I have the old 3G (5G) account and my total bill is about R 524 a month excluding calls

I've just reset my Telkom Router & changed all the passwords. I could not get the password changed on my actual Telkom account though.

I'm considering cancelling the account tomorrow & just switching to Axess. :(

Does anyone know if Axess Prepaid allows you to check your bandwidth?

Thats exactly what I am paying. :)

Install antibody's ADSL stats analyzer. You will be able to see if there were any concurrent connections on the Login History tab.

Awesome thanks for the link. Is there any way to check out what an IP addresses is for a website? I've noticed with my monthly Audit there seems to be alot of Downloading from a site around 2am when I'm either asleep or playing COD4.

IPs don't always belong to websites. Most likely it belongs to another system, or a server without a webpage front.

To check if anyone else is using the a/c itself you can login to the TITracker https://secure.telkomsa.net/titracker/ and do an Audit Trail(All Usage) Report for the month and check that your NASPORT doesn't have more than one port listed in there, well ... mine changed mid month but that was fine, guess something changed on the back end between my logins or something.

Awesome! Thanks guys! Just to clarify where do I find the NASPORT function?

I've just spoken to a Telkom Rep & was told that there IS a discrepancy with my account & he agrees that my monthly bandwidth totals do not add up.

He's logged a fault & I've suggested they cancel my account once the matter is resolved.

So to ensure this problem doesn't carry over to my new account, what should I do?

I've reset my Router.
Then goto 10.0.0.2 , change the Username & Password.
Change the WiFi Key.
Ensure that the NASPORT is set to just one port.

Anything else I should do with reguards to my settings?

The NASPORT one I was referring to is a column listed in that report that is generated by the TITracker Web Page.

Good luck, hope you manage to get all this sorted out.

Telkom can check if anybody has logged on to your account. They did a check for me (twice). All my bandwidth disappeared over a weekend and the other time during a single night. In both instances they checked and confirmed there were no other users (other than my lan pc's) that had used the account. In both instances it was e-mails with big attachments that could not reach the intended e-mail address. Because of the way it was set-up, it kept on trying to send the emails every 30 minutes or so and apparently used the bandwidth.

Ok, so I've changed the passwords to my router @ 10.0.0.2.

I've also changed my Wireless SSID & the PK String.

Is there anything else I need to change?

I purchased a 2GB card yesterday & sat on Facebook for 3 hours, downloaded a 20MB file & played on Aion for 6 hours. The 2GB's lasted me until the end of the day!

Previously that would last me 2 weeks on continuous use minus the 20mb file.
