Hey guys,

not around here often, but thought i'd might share my experience with this new DO package...

Been looking around for quite sometime at an "affordable" solution for internet at home, and last week we had one of those buggy sales people from telkom phone to try and punt a new service, and from the sales pitch... "R277 a month, includes everything, 1GB cap, no contract and a free router"

Based on that, we decided to go for it, LOL, well, things never go smoothly with them, the software that comes with the router to install is buggy as well, complained that we did not have DSL activated on the line, yet according to telkom it was, then trying to run it again, it complained that a firewall was installed and could not run (yet 20 mins ago it did with the firewall on)... disabled the firewall, message still kept popping up. Put the firewall back up, then the install package ran again fine....

Here comes the catch.... they never once gave us the details for the account, no username or password, as they kept telling us, to phone them when we are there, only then could they tell us (there are some words that can not be mentioned here that were exchanged)

Finally reaching that point last night, and a call to telkom, NO, they can't give those details, we need to phone our ISP to "convert" the dialup account to use, or signup with them as our ISP to get a username and password. WHAT THE *&^%$$%&*..... now that's what i call a cheek, nowhere in the advertising or the sales pitch did it mention that, it was "R277" a month, including everything.... now i have the flipping thing, and it actually works out exactly the same when adding everything up to getting a telkom line and using another ADSL provider for access...

Not impressed at all with the lengths these guys will go just to grab up the market, including false advertising....

Doggie "do" LOL...

I can't think of a more appropriate name for a Telkom product! :-P

Their marketing people got it spot on.....

please dont insult the doggies, their "do" is way way less harmful, smelly or disgusting than telscums

I agree - let's not insult dogs and their fine organic by-product.

the key word is 'do' ..... BIG Telkom 'do'

still worth a chuckle tho, what were they thinking in their marketing bosberaad?

I've never seen the use of any of those do packages either. Just a fancy package name to catch more people in their trap.

Hey DOOD, Telkom wants to DO you up your BroadBand!

Telkom: We DO not offer lube!
Client :
Telkom: DO you think this won't hurt?
Client :
Telkom: We DO offer the worst possible experience!
Client :
Telkom: When you figure out what we're actually DO-ing it will be too late!
Client :
Telkom: ...come CLOSER, we want to DO you... in!
Client :

Am I missing something here? R279 includes a 1GB account from TelkomInternet so they should give you a username and password to access that account.

@ pringlebrett - something about your story's not right. Jongi is spot on - your DO package includes a 1GB (currently though 2GB) account with TelkomInternet. Think you spoke to another one of Telkom's highly skilled call centre operators.
