So as you may know Telkom bombed most offline us off in gauteng today including myself, can sync to your DSLAM but can't connect to any ISP, phoned Telkom and they told me no my line is okay, yet 4 of us face the same issue, I think this is the appropriate pic of the day while we probably wait another 2 weeks for service

Make it 5, same here, keeps on trying to connect. Sometime it connects, and straight away it disconnects.

Getting high CRC errors on my modem.

Sounds like the same I had. Me thinks they are upgrading hw, or what are the chances of the aame failures across the country?

Does anyone have a (free) app which does a ping to a given site every few minutes and then logs the result or gives an alert. I find my Telkom ADSL often appears to slow down or stop (as people mention) but then suddenly seems to kick in again. The fault line is only useful if one has hard evidence of a problem - if you mention your line has been slowing down they shrug and say 'phone us when you have the problem'.

From Command line:

ping <site> /t > <output path>

I have the exact same problem now for 2 weeks, connection disconnects then line comes back up but i cant connect to any ISP, was fine this week up and till 11:30 today, only just just came back on now

What I normally do is just to change primary and secondary DNS server settings and the admin password for router and afterwards I would have done the recommended routine password recycling anyway. Also helps to have an ADSL account with two different ISP's.

Have this exact same issue since Saturday. Even tried a new router in case that was the issue, nada. Line syncs fine at 8192, but no connections to ISP works. Frustrating like hell.

I have tried guest@telkomadsl my afrihost accouny and my webafrica account none work. Also tried 2 routers

My phone and adsl was still active when I had issues last week just couldnt authenticate.

I suggest you get hold of a phone and check the line, maybe use one that's on another line.

I know my line is working cause i can see it synced at 8megs on the router aswell as the line sync light is on and stable. It just does not want too authenticate
