I've been playing with one for a few days with the Sveasoft (www.sveasoft.com) firmware... Very nifty little toys!
 
Hi all

I would like to start a non profit org. for distributing WISP technology.
I know the legal issues quite well, since I have been researching it for about 2 years and believe the time to act is now.

The boxes must be open source design; their schematics, design, etc. will be posted on the net. I believe the LocustWorld Mesh products will be perfect for something like this.

Unfortunately I have not yet built a mesh link, and since funds are tight, will only be able to do that a bit later.
For now I want to see if there would be any support, and if we can get a website going with the designs, etc.

The aim of this organization will be to take responsibility for selling the wifi links, software, etc.

The main complexity with mesh networks like these is handling the large scale routing and connectivity issues. If you want to hook it up to the internet at large, for example, you'll most likely need some fairly tricky NAT / routing setups if you want things to be automatic / translucent.
