Telkom fibre prices

Besides, Telkom isn't going to be the only competitor here. Wait for Mweb, Afrihost and WebAfrica to release their prices too. They might undercut Telkom significantly.

It makes sense to wait for the line rental contract pricing without data. On the data side, I suspect competition is going to drive per gig pricing quite a bit lower over the next two years. Most ISP's appear to be playing it safe by charging a bit more initially than they will once things scale up. At the moment the upside is just too small for them to price aggressively simply because average data usage is kinda unknown on these high speed connections(if they were to offer uncapped) and frankly there aren't many customers to actually sell to. A potential upside of only a couple hundred customers just isn't worth much to them considering all the unknowns. Conservatism will rule for the first year or so while everyone is finding their feet.

So official pricing is:

20Mbps R999 pm x 24 (50 gig Soft Cap)
40Mbps R1299 x 24 (100 gig Soft Cap)
100Mbps R1799 x 24 (200 gig Soft Cap)

40Mbps R1299 x 24 (100 gig Soft Cap)
100Mbps R1799 x 24 (200 gig Soft Cap)

I'd rather have 40Mb/s with 400GBs, than 100Mb/s with 200GBs.

Also weird they went with those speeds. Same as VDSL. I'd have thought 25,50,100 would have made more sense.

Now I wonder if you get a static IP?

Also must we assume it's Symmetrical?

If it's soft-capped AND full-speed unmetered between 00h00-07h00 then I'll take the 100Mbps/200GB.

(7 hours per day of uncapped, unmetered 100Mbps gives you 210 hours per month, which can give you 7TB+ in a month...)

It should follow the same rule as any softcap account, so probably will be uncapped between those hours

Totally agree

To me now, anything faster than 25Mbps you dont feel unless its with downloading.

I have a 40Mbps now, yes my DL run at 4.7Mbps

But the browsing of websites isn't that much quicker than it was on 15/25Mbps.

I'm only interested because of the upload speed, if it's not symmetrical I doubt they'll be much reason to move
