Telkom Fibre Speed query

Hi all,

Perhaps somebody else here is in the same situation as me or can confirm that it is in fact a problem. I have been on the Openserve & Telkom ISP 200/100 fibre option for a while already. Started out as 20/10 and it all came about as upgrades of my speed over time since 2020.

On Monday I received an SMS stating that they are upgrading my speed to 250Mbps at no extra cost. Not something I really noticed before. So I did a speed test and noticed that yes, the download is now 250Mbps, but suddenly my 100Mbps upload has been reduced to just 25Mbps.

I have looked everywhere at the packages that they offer and nowhere is there one that is 250/25. The only 250 option is 250/125. Does anybody else have the same situation as me?

Maybe the technician who changed it typed in 25 instead of 125 for my upload speed

Anyways, hoping somebody has some thoughts on this before I take on the wonderful challenge of contacting their call center to ask about this.

Not on Telkom isp but can confirm 250/125 on Cool Ideas/OS. Run a couple more tests from your router and then again from your ONT. If the 25 up persists then log a ticket with Telkom ISP

Thanks yeah. I have been testing multiple times a day and on different devices, you can just see how it is limited to 25 when it first burst up a bit to about 40 and then comes down and just hovers at 25 almost perfectly.

I contacted them via twitter, they actually quite good with responses on there it seems. Explained it all and they asked for some more info and a speedtest and they logged the fault on my behalf last night, as they say it definitely shouldn't be the case.
