Telkom fixed line vs MultiChoice DStv

Hardly a fair comparison is it, cell phones have been around for approaching 20 years while "Bottom TV" only started a year ago.

Nevertheless, ADSL is still the cheapest, most reliable, lowest latency Internet access available at any speed. No, those who say 3G / LTE is faster are deluded - check the real world speeds, rand for rand ADSL is a *FAR* superior product and, at worst, about one-third (and up to one-twentieth!) the price.

Except for when your line goes down for 6 weeks due to underground cable problems, that does appear to be a bit of a sticking point.

Yeah don't agree that its a fair comparision but do agree that MC took their opportunity where as telkom threw theirs away. Simple enough fix though... naked adsl will actually make adsl cheaper than their 3G counterparts and subscribers will flock to telkom. ISP's will be happy ship loads of uncapped bundles as people will move toward IPTV services and MC will feel some pressure. Two birds one stone? anybody?

I.......Like.

Multichoice isnt exactly giving people what they want.
If they gave us what we wanted we would be able to select channels and only pay for those.
Multichoice succeeds because there is no alternative(toptv and sabc are *not* alternatives)

Telkom is in a different boat because there are other viable alternatives for the average user that doesnt require multiple GB's of data per month.

Im pretty sure Multichoice would find it to be quite different if there was an actual alternative.
